Boxer Pal
Hi All,

I've been reading these boards for a while now and I posted to the adoption board looking for help with my search for a new boxer. Well, I have found the perfect boxer to adopt and decided it was time to introduce our family to the rest of you.

I live in Connecticut with my wife, Rhonda, our 9 yr old son, Shaughn and 3 cats. The cats are Sisko and Odo (yes, I'm a trek fan), also known as the trouble twins (I got 2 boys from the same litter) and Buddy Girl.

Our most recent addition is Bebe. (Bebe is actually short for Betty Bologna) She is a 4 yr old, 55 lb spayed brindle.

I was refered to a post on a boxer rescue msg board ( Edited by Olly - no promotion of other boxer board as written on the rules here - thanks ) for a female brindle in Rhode Island. I followed up on this and after exchanging several e-mails Linda, Bebe's origanal owner, and I decided we should meet.

Linda drove down to meet us, check out our home and to introduce us to Bebe. Bebe took an instant liking to me. They visited for about an hour during which Bebe made herself right at home.

Linda sugested that as a next step we should have Bebe spend a couple of days with us just to make sure she would fit in all right, so we arranged for me to pick Bebe up on Friday after work. When Linda and I met it was obvious that she didn't want to let Bebe go, but she also wanted to do what was best for her. Linda's youngest son started college this fall and they both work so Bebe wasn't getting the attention she deserves. Another problem was that Bebe didn't get along with Linda's housemates 11 yr old dalmation. I was told that Bebe DOES NOT get along with other dogs at all.

Sticking to our agreement I called Linda on Sunday afternoon to fill her in on how every thing was going and to let her know wheather we wanted to keep Bebe or not. Of course everything was great and we wanted her to stay with us, she is a boxer after all angelicon

That night we noticed Bebe was acting a little funny, pawing at her left ear and rubbing it on the carpet. My wife called our vet the next morning and got her an appointment for that afternoon. The poor girl has an ear infection and is now on meds. She also got a distemper shot which she hadn't had before according to the records Linda gave us.

Our neighbors have a 2 yr old male brindle named Ali. He and Bebe met on Tuesday when they were out taking care of business at the same time and they got along fine.

We are so proud of our new girl. She is so full of love and energy. All she wants to do is kiss and play. We haven't had any problems with her and the cats, no potty accidents and she DID get along with the only dog we have introduced her to so far. She even takes her meds without any trouble.

Welcome to Boxerworld, Chris. You'll find lots of neat information and great stories on this site. Bebe sounds like a really nice girl. We hope to see some pictures of her and hear all about her adventures. Don't you just love boxers and their mushy faces! If you are like the rest of us you will be completely and forever hooked on boxers!

You sound like my wife. She goes on and on about the mushy faces too. Bebe is our second boxer. Our first was a flashy fawn male named Nigel. I may share his story some time in the future.

Congrads on getting BeBe! And you don't have to go through all the puppy mess of potty training and chewing!smashicon
Cooper got an ear infection a few months ago, from swiming in the river, we did not even know he had one and found it at a routine checkup. I wonder how long BeBe had hers to have it bothering her like that?
Well anyway, glad you've joined us!
