Bean Bag Chair for bed

Hi

I have a weird question regarding bean bag chair for a bed. About 2 weeks ago i was cleaning Murphy's ear and well needless to say she went on the huff with me and didn't go to bed that night. She decided to sleep in the leather Bean bag chair. I thought Brillant, i will bring the chair in the bedroom and see if she will sleep in it all night. Well she hasn't slept a night in the bed since, which is a good thing as she is becoming very heavy( i still miss her next to me though). My question is will this affect her back or give her health problems later on. i wish you could see some of the shapes she is in time 5 in the morning rolls around.

P.S I find it so strange that after sleeping 4 months in the bed with me, just over night she switch to the leather bean bag. Lucky me hey!!

You adive or opinions would be greatly appreciated.

I actually read once, and can't remember where, but I read that Boxers LOVE beanbag chairs. I've actually been thinking of buying one for Tessa. In a hunting magazine that my husband has, there is some kind of bed that is covered in fleece and looks just like a beanbag...except costs around $90! I say if your dog likes it, let her sleep there! Plus, I think I may go get mine one, too!

Two different bean bag stories!
1.) kneesaa had a bean bag chair that I used to keep in her crate with her. Well one day I came home from work to find that she had unzipped it! Yes unzipped it and took all the stuffing out! So I put it on top of her crate and just left her in the kitchen (where the crate was) came back home to find her sitting on top of her crate on top of what was left of the bean bag chair.
2.) Buu came with this HUGE pottery barn suede bean bag chair. Needless to say I'm sure the thing cost booko bucks! So I have literally sewn that thing back together about 100 times! He loves it and they run to see who can get on the chair first to sleep on it... the loser gets the bed!

Needless to say, if they can figure out how to unzip them or you're worried about cost...go with the cheap ones!

I know that you probably feel deserted and a little hurt, to think your baby doesn't want to sleep with you anymore. I know I did.
But there's another way to look at it. Your puppy is now secure enough to be able to sleep by himself, even if it's right next to your bed. Some dogs go their whole lives sleeping in bed with their people. Some don't.
Both Dottie AND Snoop went through that. We actually had BOTH of them sleeping with us. Great for them, uncomfortable for us. Now they sleep in the living room, either on the recliner, or couch, because that's what THEY want to do. Whatever works for them!
When we had Dottie spayed two weeks ago, they kept her overnight, and for a couple of nights after she came home, it was back in bed with us!
As long as your puppy doesn't find the beans in the chair, and he is comfortable, he is fine. they get in some pretty funny positions, when they sleep, but it doesn't seem to bother them. Take some pictures!

That is cute. I really wouldn't worry too much about it hurting her back as I have seen so many beds out there that look and feel just like a bean bag chair. I think it would be pretty cozy!

I never thought of getting bean bags. I think I might try it out, maybe I'll get lucky like you did and they won't want to sleep with us anymore! Not that I don't like it, but once or twice a week my husband ends up getting kicked out of the bed and has to sleep on the couch! No more room! :eek:

Samson took over my son's beanbag chair and absolutely loved it! I left it at the kennel with him for a week when we went out of town, and when we got it home it had too much of a "doggy" smell for me to let it back in the house! Of course now we have a worse problem with him getting on the furniture, so I should go buy him another one.

I did worry about him busting it and choking on the stuffing/pellet stuff inside, but we never had a problem. The funniest thing was the way he would have to walk a hundred circles into it before going to sleep!

I have thought about getting Joe and Kacey a bean-bag chair. I had not thought of using them for their beds, but I saw a picture with a boxer sacked out in one, and it was so cute and he/she looked so comfy. I think I'll get one and see how it goes, I might have to get another one. We'll see!!

Papasan Chair (Pier One has them)

Dillon loves to curl up into a bean in a chair that we have in our office. It's called a Papasan Chair or some call a dish chair by the look. You know the kind that are out of rattan and they are round with just a big pillow-like cushion on them. He sleeps in it soundly whenever we are in the office and just loves it. He did, however, dig into one of the cushions and rip it and then it was just like a toy with the stuffing, but we replaced it with a new one from Pier One in corduroy and he has "yet" to snag it and we've had it several months.

It's so funny. He will circle and circle and dig to try to nest in it just perfectly then when he finally lays down it's like all the weight in the world is off his shoulders, let's out one last big sigh and next thing we hear zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Boy that guy can saw some logs.

My only concern would be if he tears it open. the little styrofoam pellets get evrywhere. When my DD was about 2 my DH slit one open that was falling a part to let DD play in the pellets. Well it was awful cleaning them up. They get static cling and stick all over the place. I swear i was finding them in the registers and different places for months! Also I can't imagine if your pup ate them, I'm sure then would be bad for him. But I guess if he doesn't rip it open there would be no harm.
