Our 5 month old has been fantastic. He is so smart and was house broken so easily that I had a feeling that something would go wrong soon. Over the past week or so he has been pooping and peeing in his crate. A friend of ours told us to take all of the beding out and that should stop it. Even with that he still did it and I found him laying in his pee, happy as could be. He doesnt seem to mind being in his own pee which I thought didnt happen. Before this he could easily go all night with out going and be fine which makes me wonder if it is some sort of behavioral habbit forming. Help please.

Well i too had a bit of problem when Porscha was about that age...She would pee in her crate at night...i always thought she just had a weak blader and could not hold her pee cause she was still just a puppy, but she would never poop in her crate. I ran into a few threads on the board and came up with several solutions....

1. Before bed time i would take her out to pee
2. I would also watch how much water i would give her around her bed time.

Now it did not always work but it certainly happend a lot less.

These two tips might help you out...

Good Luck

I would check with the vet and see if he has a bladder infection. Diabla did the same thing and I thought it was behavioral but the trainer said get her check first. Sure enough it wasan infection.

Thanks for the advice. The funny thing is that I took him to the vet the day before all this started happening and he checked out perfect, but I will give them a call. Do you know if it matters that he only does it at night in his cage. He never goes in the house while he is out of his crate, no matter how long he has to wait
