How often does everyone bathe their dogs? I've heard that unless they're actually dirty or stinky that they shouldn't be bathed too often.

I will usually do 2-4 baths a year. I will however take a wet washcloth to them once a week to get any loose fur and suface dirt off them.

I have only just bathed my boxers, Ruby is a year, Luka and Angel 10 months. I didn't do it before because they simply didn't smell and I brush them all thoroughly 2 times a week, I must say though that their coats are now super soft! :)

wouldnt this depend on activity? If they are running around outside everyday, laying around on the grass and dirt they do have a tendency to smell a little. I am not saying everyday, but once a month? What about taking to groomer once a month? Would like to know before we do something we shouldnt.
thanks

I bathe mine once a week and they do need it. They play outside a lot and get pretty dirty. I use a gentle soap and rinse really well. Their coats are shiny and soft.

I usually bath Spike about 1 a week or every other week. We have red clay mud - and he loves to play in it. I use puppy shampoo, sometimes if he isn't really dirty I will just put him in the tub and rinse him off with water just to get the loose hair/dirt out. He likes a bath, and always goes crazy running around the house right afterwards.

We've only bathed them a couple of times a year, using puppy shampoo. Our previous boxers both had skin problems which was helped by diet, but was also helped by limiting their contact with soap and the like.

Having said that, Millie & Henry don't roll in horse poo like Misty used to ! They seem to keep quite clean, unless its a really wet day and the field where they have walks has been churned up by kids on quad bikes.

Funny you mention this! Dh and I were talking the other day about how clean Beau and DaeZee are. They never smell dirty unless the've spent an extended amount of time outside and then it's not really a dirty smell....I don't know it's hard to describe. Anyway, I haven't bathed Beau in several months. I've bathed DaeZee twice since we've had her. Once when we brought her home because she sat in a nice pile of one of her littermates poo right before we left the breeder's house, and once when she found something smelly to roll in outside.

Now Howie and Lexi, they don't really stink, but they feel dirty so they have a bath probably once a month.
