Bath time? How often?

I am not a big fan of bathing my Rex, I heard that dogs should not be bathed too often. However, if I can smell him before I can see him, that's it: it is time for a bath. Recently I decided to take him to a professional groomer for a bath. I though, professional baths should last much longer than baths given by an amateur (me). Well, $26 and two hours later he came home shiny, wiggly, and definately nice smelling. That lasted the whole day. Next day I started smelling his feet (they smell like old sneakers) and two days later his nice body smell completely diseaper. How often do you give baths to you boxer?

Lexi gets a bath once a month with a oatmeal based shampoo. She will get a spray down with water only if she is in the lake or get's covered in mud or dirt. She keeps herself pretty clean. The only problem areas we have are ears (natural) and yes the feet. Kinda smell like fritos. I make sure to clean her ears once a week and clean her feet once or twice a day depending on what we have been doing. You can also look at what you feed. That can also cause unwanted body odor!!

We bathe Max about every two weeks. That's about how long it takes for him to start smelling bad and also when we touch his fur, it leaves scummy residues on our hands.

We bathe Dasia once a week, usually after we get back from the dog park with an outmeal shampoo called Epi-Soothe. Her coat is always nice and shiney and she never has dry skin or dandruff. Her feet do smell like stail Fritos though. :p

On a side note, we just got a shower attachment that has cut bath time in half.

Apollo is about to turn 6 months and he hasn't had that many baths. When we were fist crate training he had quite a few, because of the smell, but since then, only here or there. Last night he got a rather badly needed one. He went out to romp with the neighboring Retriever and they were both filthy.

Apollo doesn't smell much at all(or at least the other two cover him up). I guess I just got lucky!!

Prince gets a bath every other month or when we can't take it any longer, which ever comes first! We use a shampoo with oatmeal & aloe to avoid drying out his skin. I was giving him raw garlic, he smelled worse than Plotniks Deli at Raleigh St & Alabama Ave when I was a Kid :D

Ours get one every month.

It is soooo cute...this month I took the kids on a 5 mile hike, then we came home and while I was getting prepared for their bath I was walking around the house telling them that they were gonna get a bath...so I walk into the bathroom and my big love bug Hook was sitting right near the tub, with his head hung low...he's just soooo smart!

We have no problems with dry skin at all...many people do and only bathe theirs every few months. I am with you all...when they start smelling, I give them a bath...

Twice a year. Usually spring and fall. Ginger is pretty clean. If she gets her feet dirty after playing outside, I will clean them, but she hates it. She does a good job of cleaning herself too. She never really smells. We also take her to a groomer for her baths. I just would never attempt it.
