Hello Everyone!!

I am a new member so I am sorry if this is a repeat thread.

My 8 month old boxer Sassy, is having problems being in her crate. Or I am having problems making her feel comfortable in there. She barks and barks and barks when she is in the crate. I feel so bad for her and I don't know what to do. A spray collar did the trick for a while but now she doesn't even care. She wants to bark more than the spray bothers her.

I am going to try and re-crate train her. I was wondering if retraining her will help. If I can even start over with her or if I did it wrong and need to find something new to try.

She gives me so much joy and there is nothing I won't do for her. Any suggestions that you may have would be very helpful.

Again sorry if this is a new thread. I am learning my way around the site.

Thank you so very much.

you might want to leave the radio on for her. also does she like kongs filled with something like peanut butter or yogut.

I'm pretty new here myself, but the main question I have is whether you EVER take your dog out-or even respond to her-when she's barking. If you do, your dog knows that barking is an effective way to get your attention.
We really struggle to ignore Sweet Pea when she cries in her crate, but she's down to less than five minutes because nothing good (not even negative attention) happens when she barks.

I leave the TV on for her. I haven't tried a kong yet. When she barks i try to ignore it and sometimes I will tell her no. She gives me this sad sad look and it breaks my heart. When she barks I don't take her out because I have to go to work. She isn't in her crate very often only when I am at work. But I come home for lunch and let her out and my boyfriend is a student so he is home for most of the day.

I will try the kong. I am going to go buy her a new pet bed to put in her crate. She tore up her old one.

Should i use the divider the crate came with to make her area smaller? I felt bad about using it so i didn't.

Another question...do any of your boxers foam at the mouth and create excess drool?? She drips and drips when she's in the crate, or when shes upset or nervous about anything.

Thank you

sometimes when you put bedding in the crate they will go to the bathroom since there is something that will soak it up. as far as her drooling it sounds like she is having separation anxity. with that you will need to aproach her in a different manor like maybe put her in the crate for a short time like when your bf is home he could do this for say 3-5 minutes and when she does well give her tons of praise as time goes on you can leave her longer and longer. she will come to love her crate. if she has to much room in her crate she will be able to go to the bathroom she should only have enough room to stand and turn around. hope this has helped.

Sorry Courtney323...I have never been on a forum of any kind. I have read the rules. I just don't understand how forums work and forum lingo. Sorry to cause such a BIG problem.

I was just searching for information on Boxers because I want to better understand what my baby is going through and help her through the hard parts.

Thanks.
