BARF guilt?

Hello everyone. Today is Day 3 of BARF, and Carli is pretty sickly. For the past 3 days, she's had 1 1/2 chicken thighs, and last night I gave her some plain yogurt to hopefully calm her stomach a little. She's still got a bit of an appetite, but not as ravenous as day 1 and day 2. My main concern is that she's just got the runs - horrible - straining, and straining, and straining. I fed the thighs to her whole, and she broke the bones up as she needed...

I guess from a "motherly" standpoint, I'm feeling pretty bad, and I am worried that this could turn into something more complicated. Can anyone else share their experiences with Detox so I don't feel so horrible?

I'm sorry Carli is having such problems. Maybe some Kaopectate would help. That's what I would usually give Markus when he had the runs. Are you sure that she doesn't have an allergy to chicken?

Why are you feeding thighs? I would definitly not feed thighs when I first switch to raw. Because the bones are weight bearing, they are harder and more brittle. Even after almost 4 years of feeding raw I will only feed chicken thighs in an emergency.

I would switch her to wings, backs or necks right away. (Gross question but...) What color is her poop? Just eating chicken it should be a very light brown, almost beige.

Along with yogurt, you can give her some pure canned pumpkin, about a tablespoon per meal, to help with the runs.
