My Dad's Boxer, Bailey, had to be put down tonight. When she got up this morning everything was fine. A couple hours later she started getting weak and was in obvious in pain. The Vet determined she had a tumor that was bleeding. After X-ray's and blood work, they did exploratory surgery. Apparently the tumor was deep enough that they could not do much. They gave her a 50/50 chance if they just closed her up. She had been such an incredible friend and my dad couldn't bear to see her suffer anymore. The decision was made to put her down. Bailey was 10 and the reason I chose a boxer as my first dog. She wasn't a pet, she was Family. I'll miss you girl...

It doesn't hurt any less when it is a fur-brother or sister that goes to the bridge. I lost my fur-brother Brutis about a month ago and it was just as heart-wrenching as losing one of my own. He too was the first boxer our family owned and why I would never consider another breed. I am so sorry for your families loss. I hope you and your Dad can find peace in knowing Bailey is now pain-free and running with all her new friends at the bridge, just waiting for the day to see all of you again.

We put our boxer Pete down on Tuesday morning. He was 13. It is so hard but I think knowing that others care and the kind things are helping.

I also feel better knowing that I could not be selfish and put him through any more discomfort or pain and that now he running and slobbering and isn't so cold and having to wear his stinky purple sweater to stay warm this winter.

Man, we love those dogs. So sorry for your loss and know that we feel your pain and that it will get better. Hugs!!
