Xena has very leaky eyes, and I was reading a Boxer book the other day that said their eyes should not have discharge. Do any of yours have constant eye boogers?

Her eyelids also appear very "loose", they droop at the lower lid and you can see a lot of pink inside. Is this weird?

Many boxers have an eye lid problem called ectropian or en tropian. This is when the lower lid turns in or outwards and often the lashes are involved . The lashes can rub constantly accross the eye ball and cause the eye to "weep". An eye specialist is in order to see if that is indeed her problem. If left she can suffer permanent scarring to the lens and this can cause all sorts of problems including being very painful. Some boxers as they grow do indeed grow into the loose skin and the problem does not appear so pronounced, but a trip to the eye doc would definately be in order if you are worried about her. There is a surgery proceedure to correct this fault that is very successful.

Monty's eyes have an occasional discharge.
Most mornings he has these boogies hanging down. I simply wipe them away. His lower lids are not hanging down though.
After his walk his eyes seem a bit wet but again I just wipe them.

If it's a worry to you then just consult your vet.

All the best

Hi CC

We are currently dealing with what my vet termed an "ulcer" in my Cody's eye. It started as being very pink/droopy and watery. Then he started scratching it alot. We are also treating Cody with chemo right now for lymphoma, so I was worried his eye was due to the chemo. Took him in and the opthamologist said it wasn't anything to do with the chemo, just an ulcer. He said they were common in boxers? So he had to have his eye debrided and is on 2 ointments for it. Not trying to scare you, maybe just watch it closely but definitely have it checked out if your baby starts scratching or rubbing at it alot. Have a great 4th !

Thanks everyone for your help.

We're going to the vet anyway on Tuesday so I will be sure to ask about this. Good to know my girl isn't the only one, and I imagine it's nothing since she doesn't seem to be bothered by it at all.
