My 1 year old girl has had problems with her poo's since we brought her home. So when i joined this site i thought i would ask. As the vets have been no help.

Shes never been a big eater, and i've been told not to worry about it as she will fill out eventually. But she looks en even, her head seems small and you can see her ribs. it worried me when she started to have a lot a runny poo's and sometimes there was like a green liquid coming out as well.

First things first we took her to vets, and had bloods and poo's tested and they all came back clear. So the vet put her on a special diet. But she still had the green sloppy poo's. That was over six months now, and she has been taken of the diet, but she still gets really runy poo's every now and then. i don't really know if this is common as she's our first baby.

If any one could shed some light i would be gratefull

I don't know what you are feeding now (if the vet recommended it it is probably Science Diet, a very BAD dog food). But, you should research and find your dog a good, balanced all life stages dog food such as Canidae, Chicken Soup, Innova, Solid Gold, etc.

Do a search here at BW for "Journal Food" and you'll find a list of top quality dog foods from which to choose. Avoid fillers, byproducts, preservatives, BHT and other cancer causing additives. Limit grains and make sure that 3 of the first 5 ingredients are good human grade quality sources of protein.

Good luck.

Thanks

Thank you for the guidance. We have tried to limit her intake of fats and salt. She is currently on eukanuba junior. this is what has been recommended by family freinds who also have boxers. I don't really know if this is any good and anymore advise would be appriciated.

Thanks

Your description of your furbaby and of her current poo problems were similar to the ones experienced by one of my boxers - she had loose stools since the get go, and none of the premium dog foods I tried seemed to help. Out of desperation, we eventually put her on the Science diet the vet prescribed for her, and although it did seem to help curtail her diarrhea, she ultimately developed skin problems which I am convinced was due to all the fillers used in that kibble. Finally switched all three of my dogs over to raw, and am happy to report that all are now thriving. What's more, they always lick their bowls clean - no more picky eaters! BTW, both of your boxers are adorable! Good luck and do keep us posted ~ Cathy

Eukanuba is crappy food...that may be why your baby is having so much trouble with runny poo...she may be allergic to something in the Eukenuba or it could just be the crappy fillers that they put in it...I highly suggest that you get her started on one of the better quality foods that Tulsa-Dan suggested above....you won't find the high quality foods at a petstore or grocery store; you might have to search for them in your local area but believe me, it will be worth it in the end...we live in a medium size city and the only place we were able to find the good food was at a local feed depot...we, like many other boxer owners, feed Canidae and love it ! I have a 5 mos old who has only had loose stools once since we brought him home and that's because we had him on crappy Purina One (didn't know any better)...once we made the switch to a good kibble he's never had another bout of diaherra...
You can go to the Canidae website and do a search for it in your local area

Good Luck! :)

Sorry, but Eukanuba is not very good food. There are lots of better food out there.

Just an FYI - Clover had really runny poo's as well from the time I got her - she was on SD, I switched her to Innova, still didn't work, and we thought she was having an allergic reaction so she got NB Duck and Potato, horrible stools, switched her to Wellness, still horrible stools but her coat was amazing, so I've switched her to Canidae, and also started adding in Missing Link, and guess what - they are perfect!!! Yeah, and there aren't so many "surprises" awaiting in the yard and she is putting on weight.

Thankyou

Thankyou for your opinion. The problem i now face is that i live in the UK, and can not locate any canidae. is there any other food you may know off that is avaiable over here
Thanks ever so much, as i can now pin down the source and tackle it with more knowledge, rather than what my vet says.
Thankyou BW

I believe people in the UK have been able to find Burns kibble and if I remember right you can order it online and get free shipping...
