I received the results from the two lumps that were removed from Rocky a couple of days ago. Unfortunately, it was not good news. They were both grade 2 massed cell tumors. The vet said that the one on his shoulder had been removed cleanly, but the one on his toe had not. There just isn't enough tissue on his toe to remove it all. My vet talked with me about radiation, but that's just not really an option. The cost is astronomical and he would have to go three times a week for four weeks. Even if we could afford it, DH and I can't take off work that many times to take him.
I took him back yesterday and the vet did a needle biopsy of the lymph node closest to his toe. We're waiting for those results. If there are no cancer cells in his lymph glands then the prognosis is good. If there are, we may try chemo. I'm so upset - he's only four years old! My poor baby! I really need Boxer lover good vibes and support on this one.
