Just got back from the vets and got some bad news. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this. My 9 month old baby Juno has had some bleeding when she passes stools. This has gone on for 2 days so took her to the vets to day. She had a tempreature of 104 and she had a rectal exam. The vet said that she had lumps as far as she could feel. She said that this was very unusual for a dog her age. She might need a biopsy. She has been put on strong broad spectrum antibiotics for a week and will be going back in 7 days.

Really worried about this. Has anyone been through this before?

I'm sorry to hear about Juno. I've haven't any experience with this, I just wanted to to send some healthy ((vibes)) her way!

She definitely has her age on her side. I had a boxer that had so many lumps and bumps and growths it wasn't even funny. Of course I panicked with each biopsy. He did develop lymphoma at 8 y/o (which I couldn't even see) and that's what got him. I'm sending up prayers for your boxer--I have a good feeling about it though. Enjoy every minute, week, month or years that you have with them.

thanks for all your good wishes. Just got back from the vets. The lumps are the same size, she is really puzzled. She doesnt want to put her through a biopsy seeing she is so young but is stumped as to what it is. She said she only saw this once before in a dog that was 10 and was very ill.
She is going to speak to other vets to see if they have ideas.
She was been put on another week of antibiotics. Going back next week for another check up.
She did say that she thought it was an auto immune disease though but not sure.
Excuse my ignorance but does that mean cancer!!!

ps.. she is also losing weight 1 kg in a week.
Apart from this she seems her usual lively self.

is it possible that it could be histiocytic ulcerative colitis? i've just become acquainted with the name recently when tuff had some bloody, loose stools last week. the vet was pretty sure it was just a little episode of colitis, but i naturally took to the web for answers. i read that it is very common in boxers younger than 2 years of age and is sometimes called "boxer colitis" since they seem to be predisposed. just a guess, but perhaps it's worth looking into?

i hope whatever it is it is cleared up quickly and your pup is feeling better soon :)

Autoimmune diseases are not cancers but are often very serious. Basically the immune system attacks the body's own cells as if they were foreign pathogens. Treatment often involves steroids to calm the over-reactive immune response. I hope your vet is able to diagnose Juno and get her better soon.

HI all,

Went to the vets last night and the Vet had good news for us. The lumps had really reduced in size and she is back on her normal diet with no problems. The vet said that it was prob a bacterial infection. She didnt expect them to have reduced so significantly. She gave another week of antibiotics and she will have to go back in 4 weeks.
We are over the moon.

ALso she had to prescribe something for the gas!!!! It was awfull..

Thanks for the help
