I know...
Roxie I'm so sorry for what your having to go through, because I think we're on the same page. I have a male rescue dog that I got about a year ago. He is a wonderful dog and very loving. In January My husband and I moved from our apartment to a home with acerage for him to run around on, but it is on the same property as my parents home. We spend a lot of time outside so Jax is always on his runner when we are outside. Lately, since we've moved, he has been very aggresive towards men. When he bites he only goes for the ankles and never draws blood, but he lunges at every male he sees. We knew he had this male aggression problem when we got him, but before we moved he was great with anyone we met or came into contact with and he loved to play in the park with other dogs. Now he constantly barks and fights with any dog that comes around him and he bites any man(or boy) that he comes into contact with except my husband. Even when hes in the house he will bite any male person that walks through the door if we're not holding him. And it's not just on the first encounter/meeting of someone new. Hes biting people he sees everyday. I'm still good friends with his previous owner and we've been talking a lot about this problem. She is suggesting putting him down, and I don't want to. He is so sweet and playful with young kids and fine with women. I can't afford to take him to a behaviorist, but his vet said he's just getting old, and his past might be giving him flash backs. He's only 10-12 yrs old the vet thinks, and i was under the impression he was much younger. I can't put him down, and I can't give him back to his previous owner because I know she will put him down. This is really hard on me because everyone is telling me to do it before its too late and he really hurts somebody.
