Bad batch of food?

I have been feeding my boxer Kirkland chicken and rice food for a little bit now as it seems to be one of the few foods that doesn't upset his stomach ... until now! I bought a bag from Costco on Sunday and noticed right away when I opened it that it didn't smell right. Stupid me fed it to my dog anyways. He has now had 4 meals of it and right away had some loose stool (not super uncommon for him so I didn't think much of it) but as of this morning his stool is very loose and mucousy. There is frothy mucous that comes out with it initially and then after it almost looks like drops of oil that come out.
I obviously am not going to continue to feed him from this bag. Can I return an opened bag to Costco? Should I contact them or the manufacturer (Diamond pet foods if I recall correctly...and I know that they have had a slough of issues lately!). I don't want to buy him another bag of the same food since I would imagine the whole batch could have potential issues. The only other food that he has tried that he did ok on is Blue Wilderness so I may end up getting a bag of that in the meantime..

I would absolutely return the opened bag and alert the store to the problem. It could be related to the manufactoring process or storage. Maybe you can open a new bag in the store before you buy it.

I sent the company an e-mail alerting them with the product number and expiry date and returned my opened bag to Costco. The lady said that another bag was returned today as well with the same complaint... I bought a new one and made sure that it was from a different batch. I also opened up the bag and smelled it before leaving the store (and it doesn't smell rancid). Raiden still has an upset stomach so hopefully it improves now with a different bag of food.. I finally found a food that doesn't give him diarrhea so I would hate for it to have issues now.

You may want to feed him some white rice and fresh cooked chicken (3:1 rice to chicken) until his stomach settles back down before giving him the kibble. I had to do this with my terrier mix when she got into the bird seed that had fallen from the bird feeder - silly dog!
