I am a relativly new boxer owner although i have had the pleasure of owning my best friend for 3 years now. Why did i name the subject B afraid ??? The reason being that once u own a boxer the pride , love , and empathy u feel with this breed changes the way u look at life completly and makes u fear the day u lose them . Maybe its just me but i would b interested 2 know if any1 out there feels a bond with this breed that they have never felt with any other breed b4 ..
Sometimes i feel its an obsession 2 find out everything about the breed and talk about him every day .. I sometimes feel he gets me through the days when i am low because he acts a clown just to make me smile . When i was looking for my first boxer someone informed me they were no brain fools ...... i seriously think the fool obviously never owned a boxer because they r far from that . Anyway sorry for goin on lol ..I would appreciate other opinions on this subject .

Zak,

I totally agree with you! When we first got Tiger, I would think about him CONSTANTLY and do searches on the web for information. Then I joined this board and learned so much more! We are dog sitting for our neighbor who has a keeshond/terrior mix, besides the fact that I am going CRAZY right now, because this little girl does not know ANY commands and is EXTREEMLY hyper, I am also learning to appreciate just how smart Tiger/Boxers are!!!

Zac,
I have to admitt, I feel the same way about my babies. Everytime I look at Ramses I pray that the day never comes that I have to make the decision to put him down. I've only had him for 5 months now and he has touched my heart in a way that no other dog can. Sayde Lynn was my pride and joy and losing her was like losing my own child. I still remember they day they told me she was no longer with us and I just felt like life had ended. How could I possably go on without my best friend who slept on my legs everynight and stayed on the bug comfy chair the living room with me when I was sick and ran to greet me, her booty waggling when I came home each day! It took a while, but she is always with me. I understand your bond. I only had Sayde 2 short years and she was my everything. Ramses and Lexus (my 9 week old female) are they best. Just wanted you to know, I feel they same!

Zac, you are in the company of lots of folks who share your sentiment. I dearly love my Boomer, and don't know what I'll do if something should happen to him. He's so sweet to my children, and he's such a big baby. He can't stand to be alone, and follows me everywhere. If everyone else is asleep, but I stay downstairs to watch TV, he'll stay down there with me to "protect" me. Boxers are such sweet, and loyal friends!

Zac, nice to see someone else from the UK on here.

Yes, we are all completely Boxer crazy and like you think about, talk about and rave about our Boxers.

This Board is like Boxer lovers heaven - to be able to talk non-stop about your Boxer without people getting bored!

My Umma...

What I love the most is when she falls asleep resting her head on my neck, she has to touch a part of my body while she's sleeping.

Sometimes when we take her to the park and we know she's very tired, we feed her and try to put her to bed, she wouldn't sleep alone so we have to stay with her in bed until she falls asleep then very slow move away...most of the times it doesn't work, after we're gone she wakes up and follows us so we end up napping with her to make sure she's getting her rest...

..and then the morning comes, and you wake up with little boxer smooches and laughs at the silly wiggling butt.

Can anyone tell I'm inlove with my boxer ? :)

Zac,

I used to be terrified of all dogs having been bitten twice as a child and thought I would always be a 'cat' person. Then I met a friend's boxer and my whole attitude towards dogs changed :D

They are more human than dog and by far the best breed for having as a family pet.

My husband and I often refer to our dogs when friends are talking about their children and I'm sure they think we're mad for likening having 2 dogs to having kids. ;)

Only another boxer parent will understand these feelings and non-boxer people tend to interpret their behaviour as 'naughty' or stupid as they don't understand boxer communication or appreciate their great characters and personalities.

I totally understand where you're coming from and feel exactly the same way about my 2 boxer 'babies'.

I also agree I have never ever worried about the day I would no longer have my Chief and he's only going on 6 months. This is the first time I have ever felt this way about a dog I thought it was a strange thing to have tears start to form just thinking of when he would no longer be around. I even told my wife that I don't think I could bear to have another if anything ever happened to Chief:(
