Hi Chris,

Our vet had Goliath on antibiotics both before and after his surgery, so that sounds about right. GK gobbled his up with peanut butter...Jack's favorite food...so you know Jack got peanut butter because Goliath had to take a pill!! LOL..these babies..we'll do anything for them huh! I am glad he is feeling better and ready to eat. And he does deserve some extra lovin's and the royal treatment which I KNOW he is getting and that's OK in my book too! Give him a big ol "Get Well Hug" from us OK! Deb

One more question!

Sorry guys-I feel like such a pain. But I think the vet told me that there is three layers of stitches so not to panic if the top ones come open. This growth was not under the skin-I could wrap my fingers around it-so why did they need so many layers of stitches? Could it be because the cut is where his paw meets his body and it bends there? I'm finding more things to worry myself about.

It sounds like the stiches are in a place that could easily open. Perhaps that is why they used so many stiches. Praying for good news on Friday.

One reason there may be 3 layers of sutures is because with a mast cell tumor they have to get clean margines. They had to go beyond the tumor to remove it. Also it can depend on the location, sometimes it's hard to suture somthing really good if the area moves or bends alot. I would diffently discourage him from any licking he is doing to his surgery site esp. so soon after surgery. I know it's hard, Chance kept licking his sutures so I had to put a e-collar on him for the first few days. It's ok to be worried, that's what parents do :) You can't help how much you love your little guy!!!!!!

The results are in

Vet just called with the results of Austin's biopsy. It is a grade 2. He said the good news is that they got it all and that the margins are clear. Now we just have to wait and watch and hope and pray he doesn't get another one. Do they always come back? I hope not.
I would like to thank each and every one of you for your friendship and support and prayers during this time. I can't tell you how much it means to me. Especially Debbie Knowles-I don't think I would have made it without her!
