Okay, Brooke has begun giving me attitude for putting her in her crate when I go anywhere. She is in there for all of 5 min and she poops! Even if she just came in from outside. She is consistant with her potty training. and seems comfortable in there, she goes in and out when the door is open. She did it this morning, (forgot my haT and stopped to get it on the way back from dropping the children at the sitters) she had only been in there for at most 10 min and she pooped already then she stomps in it and scratches it around and it goes everywhere, on the walls and floor outside her crate(no easy feat since it is a normal stool!) What do I do? I had no choice this morning but to leave her in the crate with her mess. What can I do? Do I need to back track and crate her all day except when she comes out to potty???

It sounds to me that she could be suffering from separation anxiety. Do a seach on separation anxiety and you will find lot of information.

I don't think it is sa. We leave her alone for 15 to run to the store, and she calmly lays on the couch and sleeps while we are gone. Walking out of the door doesn't upset her at all. Just being in the crate, however she is too young to leave her while we are at work.

How old was Brooke when you got her? This is sometimes indicative of a dog that was taken from her mama too early. Or a dog that has lived in an outdoor kennel. I know it sounds kooky but we have seen this in rescue. I had a foster dog that pooped in his crate with abandon (whoever said that dogs will never urinate/defecate where they sleep was dead wrong! LOL) but we put him on some Bach's Flower Essences and it seemed to help a lot. In away, it WAS a form of separation anxiety, I think.
