My little girl got spayed yesterday. We have had problems with her lymph nodes in her neck for a couple months. We have had biopsys, lab work, found new things in her activity and could never figure out the cause. Yesterday when we had her spayed, we decided to do further testing while she was there. That was one of the reasons we got her fixed. At first we wanted to have puppies, but after her sickness we didn't want to put her or the puppies at risk. I dropped her off at 8 a.m yesterday morning and got to pick her up at 5 p.m. When I saw her, I felt so bad for putting her thru everything because she deff not her self. We got her home, and have to carry her up and down stairs letting her poddy, and have used babygates inside. (This is sup. to happen for 7 days!)
We have a male boxer at home also, and he is very upset that she is getting so much attention. I did make her sleep in her cage last night so he wouldn't step on her during the night. Everytime we talk to her or move toward her, he tries to stop us and get our attention.
Today, she has deff. been her self, although still sleeping a little more then normal. It took me hours to get her to eat something, and finally just gave her ensure. We still pick her up and carry her out side, and it is so funny because buddy comes to us, and looks at us like we need to carry him.
Earlier today I about had a heart attack, I opened the door to take the trash out, and Buddy took off around me. It was like he got my attention so she could escape and run outside. The first thing she done was run down the stairs! I am having a really hard time sticking to the doctors order of no activity for 7 days!

You certainly made the right decision to spay her, only reputable breeders should have the right to breed.

With that said, good to hear she is getting back to normal. I can see why Buddy is acting for attention, I mean who wouldn't want to be carried down the stairs

Give her time to get her appetite back, if it isn't already. If you give her extra treats to get her to eat, you are going to create a finicky dog. I also wouldn't be carrying her up and down the steps unless you have specific orders from the vet. I am the spay/neuter manager for our local pet adoption and welfare society and we don't tell clients to not allow the animals to walk up or down stairs, you do have to be careful for the first 24 hours due to the anesthesia being in the system causing a risk of them falling down the stairs.

Give her a couple days and she will be bouncing off the walls with all that pent up energy! Hope she is feeling 100% better real soon.

Oh I know, she is using this in her advantage! The vet told us that she didn't need to go up and down stairs for 7 days! But she's acting okay now! back to her normal self, and eating her normal dogfood (thanks god). I don't see it as an issue for her to be somewhat active and go up the stairs, bc our house is a split level and its not a long flight of stairs to the front door. I weigh 115 on a good day,and when the old man isn't here to carry her, you should see me accomplishing that task, she almost as big as me!
