Attacking her nubb

First thing this AM after getting out of bed Cami started chasing her nubb and chewing on it. She is not licking her bottom at all, just chewing the heck out of the end of her little nubb. After inspecting it I don't see anything wrong with it. No swelling, no signs of cuts, bites, stings etc....

I gave her a small dose of Benedryl and after eating her breakfast she is now again fast asleep. The benedryl seemed to stop the itch, but I still wonder what in the heck was causing this?

She has never done this before. I know it's not funny, but watching her try to get to it reminded me of a fish out of water flopping around. She was doing flips, somersaults and headstands up against the couch. All the while the cat is just sitting there staring at her then looking at me as if to say, "Did she get into some of my catnip?"

She went outside to do her business and that was all normal.
Anyone else have any experience with this?

I had a similar problem with Gilroy, so I know what you mean about it being funny! I felt terrible because he was so frantic about it, but he'd leap and twist, do headstands, go from sleeping to a mad dash across the room as if running from his rear end...he'd do it sporadically and then be fine for months. One vet said to try panalog on the tip, another said never use panalog, keep it completely dry, a third vet said "I found a flea, maybe that's it." Boy was I embarrassed when I found out he was right. I rarely have flea problems, but apparently just a couple fleas were enough to drive the poor boy out of his mind. I never saw him scratch or chew other places, just go madly after his tail tip.
I got rid of the fleas and he's never done it since!

Well, after the first dose of Benedryl the nubb issues have disappeared. Whatever it was it's gone now.

Tae has her natural tail and she frequently chases it. Nothing appears to be "wrong" with her tail. Sometimes she chases it so much she falls down exhausted. Quite amusing to watch!

As far as the entertainment issues, we are never lacking in that department in this house! Cami is 100% comedian. She definitly had some sort of issue with her nubb, aside from wondering where the rest of it was. LOL. She either tired of chewing on it or the benedryl cured it for her!
