Boxer Pal
I'm not sure why but my lil boy ate his bed. On Friday morning he threw up in the morning and we didnt know why. After he threw up he was running around and playing like his normal self. So we gave him a lil bit of food so he would have something in his tummy. Later that day we left to go to do some shopping. He was home for about 3 hours. Atlas is always kenneled when were gone so far at the most for 5 hours with no problems. We walk him twice a day for 40 minutes, he comes out and plays fetch for a lil bit and plays with the neighbors dogs too. So we keep him active like he likes to. We to our surprise on Friday when we got back he had eaten part of the cover and the inside of his bed! Even the zipper part! So that day he threw up the zipper part and a bunch of the inside foam. He did it again on Saturday and I called the Vet they said that it was normal he was throwing up the stuff. The Sunday the same problem so he wasnt keeping anything down. Monday he went to the vet and they put the dye stuff in his tummy and found out that something was clogging the exit to his stomach which caused his intestines to start bunching up by the stomach instead of floating around loose. The vet told me that they needed to do surgery asap or he could possibly have 24 to 48 hours to live since they werent sure what was inside. I was one of the scariest things I've hear in my life. I just kept thinking that he's just a puppy. So the did the surgery on him found out the foam stuff in his lil tummy. The vet was so surprised with my lil warrior after the surgery. She said that dogs after that surgery are always in pain and scared but my lil warrior Atlas was just so happy and didnt even seem to be in pain. Everything turned out fine. He was in the hospital for 2 days and he came home today. He looks like his normal lil self except for the part where he keeps running into things cause of his cone! LOL!!! We are definitely not going thru this again so my husband bought Atlas a rug from Costco and a mattress pad and we ducked taped it all to his kennel so he wont even have a chance for it to move!
We are so thankful that he is home safe but I cant stop wondering WHY he ate his bed. He never chews on the pillows or shoes or blankies. He's been kenneled before for longer than 3 hours we had walked him that day. Maybe its normal? It just didnt seem normal for him. I heard about if they're sinuses drip down to their tummys they'll usually want to chew on something?
