You could also fill a can with pennies and shake it it makes an awful noise and will startle and get the attention. Then say no bite!

Wouldn't that scare her too much? I've heard at this stage in her life she shouldn't be startled much. I don't want her to be a skiddish dog. The trick sounds good, just not sure if I should try it at this point. ?? Maybe I'm wrong....

Thanks for the suggestion though. If all else fails I might have to try this.

Well the point is to get her attention and obviously she's just not getting it. You just do it for a second it's the same as clapping your hands loudly then follow through with a firm no. I did it with Dozer to stop barking at my front window. He's not skiddish at all.

I have to say a big THANK YOU for everyone who has shared regarding biting! We thought we were going nuts with how much Simone is biting and how very little of what we THOUGHT would work, isn't working. However, after reading this thread and the other threads on this particular matter; we both have gained quite an understanding that we are not alone and that this is a matter that will take time. Being patient and consistent in our response to the behavior WILL pay off for everyone.

So THANK YOU, THANK YOU everyone for all the insight. We have a new found understanding and frankly, it is like a pep talk.

Ditto to what Me+Em said! We are in the same situation with our 11 week old pup and I'm glad to hear we are not alone!
While we try all different things to get her to stop biting it's still very difficult. A couple things that I found that help are:
1) being calm while reprimanding (getting upset and mad only seems to make it worse).
2) Distract her with a short training session. This morning she kept biting my hands and feet so I pulled out the treats and we worked on commands for about 15 minutes. After that she was fine.

I noticed that your Laila was born the same day as our Simone. I read the threads you've posted thus far and I have a sneaking suspicion that our girls may be from the same litter. I may be off on this so there is the possibility I am reaching waaaaay out there. But I recall a littermate of Simone's named Laila who would be going to NY.

Did she possibly come via West Virginia area???

As far as the biting. We are definitely feeling our patience tested. Staying calm certainly makes it a better situation overall. It sounds like we have similar things happening.
