Boxer Pal
My youngest of two boxer babies...Toby, is 2 years old. He has this insane habit of barking like the maddest dog you'v ever seen whilst jumping 6ft into the air and mouthing, nipping, biting all at the same time and driving me round the pipe. Every time somebody either comes home or we have visitors he displays this insane behaviour. This started after we moved house 4 months after getting him, seriously ive tried everything i can think of, ive tried ignoring him, not responding at all, ive tried commands, pet corrector spray, prozac. nothing seems to calm this dog down. when i come down in the morning with my 9 month old son...he does this, when my husband comes home...he does this...if anyone comes to the house he is calm until they step foot in the house...cue barking frenzy, jumping and going berserk and ill be honest it isnt a friendly play bark but a nasty scary bark and his teeth are out...he jumps up and pushes people over and he is big for a boxer and very strong. its putting a strain on my everyday life now with my son, i cant have any health visitors coming to the house, i cant let the guy in to read the meter, no body comes to visit us and i rarely leave the house, if i do leave...i dread coming home. the barking is so loud...it gets me so stressed and he just wont listen cause its like he goes into this "zone". me and my husband argue about it, i get stressed and upset, we've had complaints from the neighbours about his barking. my eldest boxer, Mollie is 6 now and i have no clue as i never had this problem with her.

i just dont know what to do anymore...he must be stressed and is obviously trying to communicate something but i have no idea as to what. what am i doing wrong? he is calm and sweet the rest of the time, he will see a visitor at the door and will just watch without moving or making a noise until they step foot in the house and then all hell breaks loose. if i go upstairs for a nap with my son for an hour...he greets me by behaving like this when i come back down. obviously it makes it worse cause i know that the neighbours can hear it all and then im on edge about getting more complaints.

Please if anyone has some advice for me on whats best or even if its only an opinion on why he is displaying this behaviour it would be much welcome. ive made lots of progress in other areas with him, he doesnt pull on the leash, he knows all his commands, hes soft and gentle with my son when playing, he can even perform tricks on cue for treats, he is a smart dog i just think its me who is doing something wrong or i am missing something. i had thought about sending him to classes but there isnt anything where i live and since i dont drive and i have a baby..kinda makes things difficult getting about.

I'm having a similar issue with Tucker, any time anyone comes over he jumps all over and barks a them. It doesn't even have to be someone know...it could be a friend who's been here a million times and he's still crazy! I can't figure out anything that makes him stop and calm down.

Hope you find an answer...

Gee I sure was lucky my bot wasn't a barker but his mom had a bark collar she was allowed 3 barks and the 4th not good.I'm sooo glad we didn't have to resort to the collar as I don't like them but I would if I had too after while they would just learn and you wouldn't need it forever. When we moved from a house to an apt he was growling at the door sometimes and he did let out a bark or 2 but I just told him to sh and showed him there was nothing there it worked but like I said he wasn't a barker we never heard his 1st bark until he was 1yr old when he was a neighbor's head pop over the fence. We were so happy we ran to him picked him up hugged him and kissed him all over and repeatedly said good boy.Good luck in any way you might approach your barking angel
