My Baxter (17 weeks) was a big puller. Of course, he's still easy to control because he's a little guy, but I wanted to nip this in the bud before things got worse.
I got a head collar (the kind with the strap over the nose and a loop at the bottom where you attach the leash). There are several different kinds and I'm not advocating for a single brand. But the concept is that the dog is very strong when you try to control it via its neck. But when you control it via its muzzle, it has very little strength. When I've got control of his nose, he can't pull. The minute he pulls, he actually turns his own head around to face me.
Granted, you need to get a collar that fits properly -- and you want to make sure it doesn't ride up toward her eyes. You'll also want to introduce it slowly but surely. My Baxter pitched a fit when I put it on the first time, even despite all of the treats I fed him, but after a few walks with it, he finally ignored it.
Bottom line, it worked like a charm. He literally CAN'T pull with this thing on. And he doesn't mind it once he got used to it. He's still learning to sit when I stop and all that, but the collar stopped the pulling in a snap.
