arvc positive heterozygous

My quess is that would be a bad thing? I am reading this on breeders web pages. I know what arvc is but unsure what the positive hesterozygous means.

Basically what it means is that because the dog carries 1 mutated gene and 1 normal gene (Heterozygous).
