Are Your Boxers Afraid of the Elevator?

I don't really know why, but the few times I've taken my BooBoo and Courage onto an elevator, they've pretty much freaked out. One time BooBoo was so scared that he dragged me straight out the elevator as soon as the doors opened.

And today I brought Courage to work with me and she refused to walk into it. I had to nudge her in and once it started going, she seemed fine. I wonder what it is with the elevator that they are so afraid of. They are not afraid of anything else normally... espcecailly Courage...

Well...My Boo has never seen an elevator ...but I would imagine he would be afraid of it...but he might surprise me. So unless the local PetsMart installs an elevator ..or his vet moves to a 2 story building ...I don't think he'll see one ...!

Sophie doesn't like elevators either. I take her to a nursing home to visit and I have to nudge her into the elevator and when she sees the doors open she runs out. So I don't know what it is, maybe they know something we don't.

Hmmm...I never thought of a dog being in an elevator (I don't even like elevators)!! Asia has never been in one, nor do I think she ever will unless the two ideas mentioned above happen for us, too (but our vet is inside of Petsmart).

I guess I can see why they would be scared to walk into it...I guess the flooring is different and theres that little crack that goes from the flooring to the elevator...

We have an elevator in our building. Maddie was a bit nervous the very 1st time she rode in it! Since then, she has had no problems

Scrapper doesn't mind elevators at all. We took him to some malls in San Diego and he went up and down to the various floors just as nicely as can be. He DID look down at the floor when the thing started moving, though!

Oscar doesn't like elevators. Jasmine hasn't been on one yet. ALthough, I expected it from Oscar the first time because he doesn't like the lifting scale at the vet. Maybe he's afraid of heights. My little brother was a bit freaked out by the elevator when he was on one for the first time and standing. You gotta admit it's an odd feeling the first time.

Toffee does fine in elevators. She did freak out when we went on one that was glassed in, but I can hardly blame her for that--must have been quite scary to my little girl! She got better with the glassed in one, and though she is not fond of it, she doesn't freak out as much now.

When we go to my sisters place we have to get in the elevator. This first time we went in he was ok but when it started to move he braced himself like the floor was falling out underneath him and he looked at us like "what's going on here". Everytime after that he has been fine. I think he knows his going to play with his cousin so he doesn't mind.

We live on the 3rd floor of our building, so we use an elevator. Wilson was scared the first few times so what I was told to do was to try and walk in there with him very matter of factly, with my head up high and not looking at him. This would make him see that it was no big deal, nothing to be afraid of. When he came into the elevator I would give him a treat so he would associate good things with being in there. Soon enough he became more confident and he has absolutely no problems now. :p
