Are these plants causing her to vomit?!?

So my little 10week old Avari was takin in the other day to the ER for vomitting continously....

I've had her for over 2 weeks now and she's been fine/healthy ever since. 3am Wednesday morning she threw up all her food (She's on RAW Diet since Day 3 that I got her). Every 15 minutes out came the food and then after everthing was left, just dry heaves and white foamy stuff. I took her to the ER.

I noticed when her and my older Boxer Austin (4years old) were playing in the back that she started chewing on twigs and the stems of these plants...but I'm not sure what kind of plant they are and if they are posionous. I took a picture to show them to my vet, and he said they shouldn't be poisonous, but possibly to cats? I know NOTHING about flowers/plants, etc... (i'm going to post them to my members page...)

The ER Doc gave her the Parvo test, thankfuly negative, Injected her with IV Subcutaneous Fluids, she had a little camel pack in her skin on her back filled with fluids- looked quite strange, and checked her abdomen with no uncomfortability on Avari's part.

So, they waited to do Xrays to see if the vomitting would stop- no such luck.
I took her to my regular vet the next day and he just took a blood sample - i'm wating to hear back from him. His Xray machine isn't working so we can't tell if it is something she injested...

She finally went poop this morning (Thursday)- no diarreah, and just threw up her foamy stuff. I'm hoping the poop is a good sign that nothing is blocking her intestines. She has no appetite, and doesn't want to drink anything. I've tried giving her Pedialyte, boiled chicken, white race, chicken broth in the rice...no such luck :(

I'm at work and had to leave her at home...Hopefully it's not anything serious...Has anyone experienced this? vomitting without diarreah, no appetite? hmmm

It would be worth finding out what the plant actually is - and there's a sticky thread at the top of the health forum with a link to the very long list of plants toxic to dogs.

Oh, your poor little baby. Ali has thrown up a few times in the past few days but she is always chewing grass when she gets a chance and she also chews sticks when we hike. Both mine will throw up yellow froth from time to time. I hope your little one gets better real soon.

Hi Gmacleod!

I'm horrible at indentifying plants. I think I only know what a rose, orchid, carnation, and daisy are...I'm awful and a girl!?!.

I just uploaded a picure of the plants to my members gallery...once that gets approved, hopefully someone with better plant knowledge might be able to help identify them.

Avari is hopefully sleeping in her crate after I gave her a dose of the anti-vomit medication from the vet. I just finished reading the threads on vomitting.

I'm realizing now, that she's been playing right after she eats, she gulps down her food which is in a small bowl not raised, I wonder if any of those things have contributed to her throwing up? She's been doing that for the last 2 weeks though, without any problems. I've been feeding her:

Cut pieces of whole chicken (bite sized)- necks, breast, wings, back (1 week)
PRIMAL raw food buggets (chicken/veggies and beef/veggies) (2nd week)
Given her 1/2 can of pink salmon/rice (1 day only)

I'm wondering if the introduction of these foods have been to quick for her.
I'm going to by a raised feeder, and limit the activity before and after eating.

We put some wire around the plants so she can't get to any of them...

I hope her blood test come back negative and that it isn't some deep health issue...

The plants in the backround are the ones she's been chewing on!

I don't know what they are called. Even the one above her with the pink flowers and especially the ones with the long stems....

Raised feeder?

Really? I thought it was the opposite. I've been using a raised feeder for my older boy since I got him and he's never had an issue with that. Maybe I read wrong?

Yes, I did read the study...Wow, very informative and I will try usinig some of those suggestions...Gosh, I loved that raised feeder for my older boy. Does this now mean I should not use it anymore? He's been using one since 4months old...he's now 4 years old...with no problem.

At least with Avari, hers is not raised and are ceramic bowls on the floor. I will maybe just put the large stone idea or smaller portions of the RAW chicken rather than filing her bowl high with food.

Austin: Just wanted to let you know, I forwarded the picture of Avari and the plants to a friend of mine who works in horticulture and asked her to identify the plants. I would say at the very least, so many plants are poisonous, you should stop her whenever she chews on them. I will let you know immediately if I hear anything.
