Are 2 better than 1?

So the breeder that we got emma from is having some puppies coming in march some time. Not only that but the dog that basically cemented our want for a boxer is going to be the dad. He was so kind and gentle and just super friendly. He was probably 80 pounds but you never felt scared. I have always thought it would be great to have a companion for our little girl. I do have a few questions though. First how big of a change is it to take care of 2 instead of 1. We love emma a ton but if it is too much we may not get another. Also boys and girls get along better I have heard. But does it matter the temperment. Emma is pretty submissive. So I guess a submissive or a dominant dog would be ok? Thanks in advance.

The pros far out weigh the cons. You have two to love on an in return they love you lots lots lots. They play together so you don't have to entertain them all the time. They are companions for each other especially if one suffers from seperation anxiety. The only draw back is monetary. You know...double vet bills, double food and toys.
It's worth having two in my opnion.
Good Luck

I have always heard that 2 aren't much more trouble than one. Since I only have one boxer, I can't give much more advice on the subject. Good luck with possibly getting a new boxer:).

I also think the pros out weigh the cons. Since I think it is really good to think about the cons before commiting, in addition to higher vet/toy/food costs, I'd add more poop to scoop and if you travel at all and can't take the dogs, finding dogsitters becomes a bit more of a challenge with two.
The pros are too numerous to list but here are a few...more than double the love, watching their antics together is endless entertainment, and if you have a social boxer I think they really do enjoy having canine company in addition to human company.

Thanks Everyone

I am leaning towards getting another. I think she will just be a happier pup if she can hang with a buddy. I was not thinking of the poop issue. Well at least our grass will have plenty of fertilizer

Boxers are such lovers that they need a friend. I can definitley tell the difference since my parents Ausi passed away with Dillon. He still goes to their house (for now) during the day because that was his routine when his friend was alive to go over there and wear himself out during the day and play. My mom says now he just pretty much cruises around and lays on his bed or their porch swing most of the day. Before they would play chase, sleep for a while (cuddling no less) and then play some more, and on and on.

We waited long enough for my parents to get over the initial shock of the loss and now we are getting a new little girl on the 18th. I can't wait to pick her up and to see how Dillon is with her. Everyone's photos of their bigger boxers with their baby brothers or sisters are so adorable. Dillon will be 2 in April and I think this is going to be the best thing we ever did to get him a constant companion, not just one for play dates during the week.

Oh yeah, cons....more poop, food and vet bills. Not even a consideration.

Good luck!

OK I am convinced

Now it is time to work on the girlfriend. My girlfriend is always cold so maybe I should try the doggy blanket rout since they love to sleep on us.

I am really keen to see the responses to this post. We are in the same situation. Jesse is so sociable, and I am thinking that it would be way more entertaining to play with a "sibling" than to play with me! He pines for the bulldog next door! I am not concerned about the monetary issue as much as I am the chaos that may ensue! Keep the replies coming folks, and let us know your final decision.

2 is the way to go

Right now it's Kilbane and Jack and I can't see Kilbane without a buddy once my skin kid moves with Jack. One down side is when one leaves the house without the other, then you hear howling and whining. Jack does it more than Kilbane. Like everyone else says it's twice the loving, plus they'll play switch and share.
