Hi All, my dog Apollo is 2.5 year old happy healthy boxer. Four days ago I noticed that he was a little lethargic when I had him out for a walk. The next day he seemed normal, but again lothargic on our walk. On the third day I was getting ready to leave for a business trip and I thought that Apollo was just depressed as he gets when he sees the bags being packed. He was very agitated/restless and wouldn't sit still--strange I thought--he must really be trying to get my attention before I leave......well, Apollo is a weird dog and does weird things somethime....I chalked it up to normal. That afternoon I droped Apollo off at Doggy Day Care and he deffinitely appeared to be, what I thought at the time was depressed or just not feeling all that great. The next day, at 7 am day care called and said that Apollo was extremly restless, circling to the right, very off balance, and was leaning against the wall. They immediatley took him to my vet who took him to the neurologist within an hour. They ran many tests and rulled out tumors, lymphoma, stroke. A spinal tap showed extreme inflamation...they are treating him right now as if he has either an infection such as meningitis/encephalitis or some type of malfunctioning immune response that could be attacking his brain??:( What the heck....I've never heard of this in dogs...They are pumping him full of anitbiotics and steroids until the cultures come back later this week....I am heartbroken to say the least...have any of you ever heard of something like this or experienced it...whats the prognosis? The neurologist said he gave apollo a 70% chance, but didn't want to speculate on any permanenet damage to his neuro systme as a reult of the inflamation....

I would love to hear from you if you have any experience or knowledge...

No experience or knowledge of what you're going through, just wanted to say how very sorry I am that this has happened to your baby.
We'll keep our paws and fingers crossed that Apollo is ok.
Let us know how he is etc?

I'm sorry, but I don't have any experience either. I am sending positive healing vibes your way. I hope that Apollo is better soon.

Yeah for Apollo...keep up the fighting and we'll keep looking forward to your mom's new posts. Hang in there and Josi says to send you boxer licks and wiggles since you are probably missing them right now.
