Boxer Pal
buster will comply with my commands, however, he often likes to grumble at doing it. at times it is cute, at other times i wish he wouldn't do it (even if he does the command). is this another boxer trait?

Oh..what a relief! I thought I had the only sassy boxer! Greta really grumbles too when you give her the down command. I only have to put my finger to my lips and say shhhh and she will stop instantly and she always does the command, but she always has to give her thoughts about it. Silly girl!

If I ask Jacob to get off the bed so I can lay down, he always has to complain first! The other times that he usually "talks back" is when he is really involved in something & someone asks him to do something else. I love that Jacob talks, it just adds to his personality!!

Palmer has all sorts of things to tell us. He drops to the "down" position immediately though. His grumbling makes us laugh so I think he does it for this reason. He's such a clown.

Yes, both mine "sass" me, too! Beau is worse than Samantha--such a vocal boy--always has something to say about everything!!

Toni is quite the little sasser. She follows the command but will sass. I always tell her my skin kids didn't get away with that, it must be because she is so sweet.

Aubie hasn't started any real training yet so I don't know, but he is a very vocal puppy. Much more vocal than Toni ever was so I imagine he'll be a sasser too.

Brutus barks at me when we're trying to work on training and he doesn't want to. He mostly only talks back to me when we're working on roll over and play dead. I don't think he likes to be that submissive. Come to think of it, when we first started working on down, he would sit and bark at me. I always thought that he was just confused and didn't know what I wanted him to do. Now, he hits the down every time. If only I could get him to heel as well.

Our Oscar listens great and is very well behaved but, when given the command to lay down he always grumbles and barks, and sometimes I have to give the command more than once. Anyone else's boxer do this?

Ajax doesn't bark or grumble, but whenever I tell him to get in his crate, he huffs and hesitates before heading over into it. It's really pretty funny!

Sirus only does this when he's not in a good mood. He doesn't bark or growl or make too much noise, but he sure does huff, puff, and snort! He blows out his cheaks, it's actually kinda funny! For instance, if I want him to lay down, I only have to say it once, he'll puff out his cheaks and snort a little, but all I have to do is point to the ground and he'll lay down. He really doesn't like to listen when there are other people around...just like kids...they act up around company 'cause they don't think you'll punish 'em. I prove him wrong ever time!
