Hello- Zoey and I won't be able to make it tonight. My teacher dumped a bunch of homework on me, and it is taking me forever to finish because I pretty much don't understand any of it. I can't wait until this math class is over. Only 3 more week! Yipee. Anyway, I am planning to go this weekend. Let me know if and when anyone else decides to go. Amy

ok.. so we went there today.
it was great.. but no dog.. well.. nobody, we were the only one. ;)

it's nice, but there's no bench or nothing.. it's like bold piece of land.

i loved it, Snatch was happy to run around.
there was a sign "dog on leash" but we let him off-leash anyway... the 2 other dogs we met were off-leash also.

we went around the trail and at the end, snatch went down in the river.

it's nice.. a little far for us.. but once in a while it's good.

i was just hoping there were no snakes because the grass is high and you never know what the dog is going to walk on...

but it was fun...

Erin, how's Lambeau?
I don't work now (i finish my job) so i'll come to the john carter park more often :)

talk to you soon,
chrystel.

HI !!!
Lady was apparently very lucky to find you :)

We are usually meeting in the John Carter Dog Park in Plano. I have a nearly 10 month old fawn boxer named Snatch.
We meet there usually on sunday evening by 6.00pm ... after the heat.

Sometimes, we meet on wednesday also (6.00pm)

Here's the web link for the park:

We are still looking around for great park. But this one is great. there is always other dogs so the dogs can play and socialize. there is also a little river if lady likes water ;)

it's a little far for me too ( i live in Carrollton, along 121) but Snatch really enjoys it (and me too !!)

lady

may take us a while to join the fun as we are still working thru the leash issues, not to mention off leash issues!she is a little skittish around people I am startting to believe she may have been beaten a few times. She is so sweet and loving but if anyother adult gets within 15 feet of us she coures down on the ground untill they have gone by. I am trying alot of positive reinforcement with her, treats and just lots of love!! however it is deffinately a work in progress. lady has seperation issues as well but the positive part of this is she is hardley ever left alone as my wife and I usally work oppisite scheduels so we are home with the kids! Even with all these issues lady is still the best dog we have ever had, most loving caring fun dog one could ever want!!! any thoughts you might have would be greatly appreciated!!

Hi Lady's Dad- I look forward to meeting you and your boxer at the park one of these days. I have a 2 1/2 year old female boxer, and also just recently adopted a 2 year old male boxer. I am really happy that you rescued poor Lady. I am by far NO expert on dog training, but it sounds like you guys are on the right track with the positive reinforcement. It will probably take her some time to trust people. I would start out introducing her to very small groups of people/dogs by walking around your neighborhood, going to Petco, or just inviting friends over so that she can have some good experiences and build up confidence. If you do feel she is ready for the dog park, I would go when it is not to busy. My fear is that if Lady is timid and cowers, she might get ganged up on by more dominate dogs.
I've seen it happen before at the park and it's not pretty.
The park in Plano is not busy weekday mornings while most are at work. If you and/or your wife would like to meet at the park in the morning sometime I could bring out one of my boxers to play.
Anyway, good luck with Lady. I am sure with a little love and a little time she'll improve. Amy
