anyone here work a full time job and can't go home inbetween?

I work long hours and can't get home most of the time.

I do have a second dog, and they keep each other company. They both are crated during the day, so that I have a house left when I come home.

if I know I am working a 10 hour day, I take Tuggy to doggy day care.

When we move into our new house will have the kitchen partioned off so he will have free run of the kitchen, but right now with our house on the market, I don't think people want to deal with a exuberant boxer giving them kisses.

My DH is come for 2 weeks straight an doesn't work during those 2 weeks. So Tug's and Dixie are out more when Daddy is home.

I live alone and work pretty far away so sometimes my little dude can be home for about 13 hours alone. :eek: I know it seems horrible, but as soon as he got used to my schedule he was fine with it. Of course, he would love to have someone come play with him or go to daycare, but I can't afford it. I felt better about it when I had Maude there and they could keep each other company....but he seems to have adjusted well and I just make sure he is with me all the rest of the day.

My husband and I both work full time, but he's close enough that he can go home at lunch once in a while. We got Marley from a rescue when he was 1 and a half, so he was already potty trained and past the chewing stage. For the first few months we had him crated for the entire day, except when my husband came home at lunch. Gradually we let him have the entire run of the house. We trusted him. Although we learned the hard way to not leave food on the counter. Now he's used to our schedule and I really think he sleeps on our bed the entire day or just looks out the window. He also gets a kong filled with peanut butter and treats, so that keeps him occupied and very happy for a while. He looks forward to that! When I'm running late, he'll start whining so he can get his kong! I also take him for a walk every morning before I leave, and my husband plays with him a ton when he gets home, so he still gets his exercise and play time.

When we first got Nestle my hubby took a couple of weeks off to be with her but once he returned to work, we were both in the city working very long hrs and Nestle did just fine. She was out of her crate at about 5 months and gated in a Nestle proofed kitchen.

Now with the new pup who is 8 weeks old, we have someone coming to the house everyday to let him out of his crate and play with Nestle and go out for a potty break.

If you can find someone to come by the house at noonish, that would be a great way to go. It has only been 3 days but it seems to be working for us

I am lucky to only have to work part time. This consists of 10.5 hour days, every other weekend. My DH is normally off on weekends so usually someone is home with my dogs majority of the time. Occasionally I will have to work a week day and when I do my dogs are crated. I hate leaving them in a crate that long, and usually try to get a family member to come to my house to let them out, but sometimes no one is available. They never have accidents in their crates. That is not a brag, but I am glad they don't. And once I am home, it is constant play time until time for bed.
I think each person has to work out the best possible setup for their dog and that is all you can do.

I work eight hours so am lucky to have my family take turns coming over to spend an hour with them at lunch. They have their own bedroom but that is such a long time. My boxers are 3,4, and 6. I don't have the work schedule to raise a puppy so rescue has been my best friend.
