Anyone have a boxer and a pug?

My family is thinking of getting a pug within the next year. Max is very hyper (normal boxer) and I wonder if that will be too much for a pug. We originally wanted to get another boxer for Max to play with, but are now thinking of getting a smaller dog. Does anyone have a pug and a boxer and how do they get along?

My mom has two pugs and both of my boxers play great with them! In fact, our neighbor has two pugs as well that are best friends with my boxers. I don't think you'll have any problems at all. ;) I also know of two different people that have one pug and one boxer.

My friend has a minnature pug and he reminds me alot of my two boxers with his playfulness. I don't think he is as hyper as a boxer, but I am sure it would be fine

I had a pug and a Boxer at the same time. The pug w/a pup and Blizzy was around 7 when we got the pup (puppy sitting for a few months). The pug seemed to rejuvinate Blizzy..she started having so much more energy. The pug would initiate play and Blizzy would go and go and go..both would just collapse into a deep sleep at the end of the night.

Blizzy seemed to know she couldn't go "all out" when playing with the pup..don't know if was because the pug was a baby or because she was so small..but Blizzy only got a bit rougher as the pup got bigger and more able to handle it.

Maggie (the pug) was a nut job. Always running around (even as an older pup). She did sort of remind me of Blizz as a pup..Maggie seemed to even "pick up" some boxer traits..like the good old Boxer Burns and the funny way Boxers seem to tuck their butts under when running full speed. We called Maggie a Pugoxer..a Boxer wannabe

I'm glad some asked about this. :) My 9 yr old wants a pug & I was wondering the same thing, the one we saw was SOO cute & sweet but I don't know a lot about the breed. We are still thinking about it but it wouldn't be for awhile anyway. :)

Have you looked into the Boston Terriers? Emily's favorite playmate at the dog park is a Boston named Larry. I think they're very cute!!!

We have a boxer and a Peke!

Sorry, no pugs here but we do have a Pekingese puppy! She and Beau are best pals. The only issue we have is they LOOK scary when they are roughhousing. We have had people very upset because they think the Boxer is "killing" the Peke. Beau would never harm Jasmine, but since others don't know that, they see a Boxer carrying a Pekingese around and assume he is going to have her for dinner. (Jasmine is actually more aggressive than Beau, and is always chewing on him. When he gets tired of her, he plops a paw on her to make her stop)

I would love to get a pug. That's the type of dog I wanted before I met Lexi in the pound. I've thought about getting one but also worried as to how the babes will take to their new playmate. I already have the name picked out: Sassy :)

I have a almost 5 year old pug, and Kirby who is 6 months. They get along great, and sometimes Rigg's (pug) get's a little annoyed cause Kirby has so much energy. ( like right now playing at my feet!) I sometimes have to tell Kirby "enough" because Rigg's gets tired. But other then that they are the best of friends! I am surea younger better in shape pug could handle a boxer a little better then our Rigg's! If you want to see some pic's of the two you can check out my gallery. Best of luck! :)
