Ali, It just shows how little, people know about docking tails. I saw Monty at 3 weeks and was suprised to see the pups with their tails. However it was never an issue with me, nor for the owners of the other 9 pups. Monty is now nearly two and apart from Whack,Whack, Whack, I never notice his tail.
I don't envy you letting your pups go and I'm sure you will shed more than a few tears. At least they will be going to good homes.

Hi Jo, Yes I got Monty at about 7 weeks. He is an absolute darling, very laid back but when out he's your usual boisterous, daft boxer. I'm so happy to have a boxer at long last. At home there was always a boxer. I had my lovely glen terrier for 14 years, but Monty is something else which i think only boxers owners know about.

Hi sue, it took me ages to actually find a white boxer that was for sale that when i found chance he was 13 weeks old because he had been bought but then they decided they didn't wan't him so i missed out on the tiny puppy stage. We wanted to get another dog because chance suffers from seperation anxiety but we decided that our house was too small for 2 boxers so we went for a sharpei because they are a bit calmer i pick my pup up in 4 weeks and 4 days and can't wait. It's really handy because it is my boyfriens mums litter so i seen her being born and get to see her whenever i wan't, i have just seen her tonight because she has been to the vets to get her eyes tacked and i feel so sorry for her with her little white stitches in but it is better fot her but they have to stay in for 2 whole weeks!!.

Jo, don't worry too much about missing out on the puppy weeks. Lots of people take on older dogs. My mum and dad took on a 15 month old boxer and she was fine.
Good look with your sharpei, they are georgeous. We have one near us and he's lovely. Monty plays with him lots.

Cor, you two stay up late... i have to be up at 6 am to feed the pups and get 3 lazy daughters up for school!! Sue I know what you're saying about the Glen terrier. My Gemma was a GSD and the light of our lives. When she died in 1998 at 11 we thought our world had come to and end. Hubby said no more dogs but the house was so empty. He relented after 1 month but said no more gSD's as we could never replace her as she was so good with other dogs and kids. So we opted for a boxer and have never looked back. I think it's boxers for life now although Gem was still the best!!
Jo my eldest daughter is jealous as she wants a sharpei with all it's wrinkles. Why do they have to have their eyes tacked?

I am still seething about that twit who wanted to dock their tails now!

Speak soon Ali

Hi Ali, sharpeis have to have their eyes tacked because of their wrinkles, if they are heavy they force the eyes down and obstruct the vision. All sharpeis should have them done when 2-3 weeks as a precaution even if they are not very wrinkly. When i get her i will try to figure out how to send you a picture of her and Chance together, thats if they get on!!!.

Jo i'm sure they will get along fine. Poor Chance with his tail problems. I don't know how tails are docked these days but again back in the sixties with our pups, the breeder came the next day and tied elastic bands round the tails.A few days later the tails simply dropped off. No blood or mess. Even though I love Monty with his tail, today he wacked me in the mouth and I'm now nursing a split lip.
Ali, yes we probally are late birds ,but then you have a great commitment and need your sleep. I'm so glad at long last I have a boxer, but it's really down to my mum and dad.
When Leah their last boxer died 2 years ago my parents now in their 70's really could not cope with another puppy. So the next best thing was to become grandparents. My sister had also lost her collie soon after I lost Owain. My mum and dad bought us both a boxer puppy. They are identically marked but Sophie is half the size of my Monty. Like with kids they can love and play with them but at the end of the day they can say bye bye.

Wow, I haven't been on here for a few weeks and find lots of Boxer people from England.

Monty I hope you don't mind me asking this but reading your last message about your parents not wanting another puppy, would they not consider taking in a rescue.

Do you know they there are inconsiderate people out there abandoning their lovely boxers when they are in their last few years (10 - 11year olds), many are younger (6 years upwards). Not all rescues are problem dogs. They had one come in to rescue and when asked why they couldn't keep it any more they replied "the kids have outgrown it" ???? some are returned due to marriage breakups etc.

Regards
Sue

Hi Sue, I'm sure if there was any way, my parents would take on any boxer. Unfortunately my mum recently broke her hip, my dad has heart problems. It would have to be the most quietist, lethargic boxer on record. They have done their bit, owning 5 boxers spaning over 50 years. They are so happy to be grandparents to Monty and Sophie and spoil them to bits.

Oh, I'm sorry to hear that and I don't think their is a boxer on this planet like that. My aunt lost her boxer two years ago, he was 11 but about a month before he died we took Georgie down to meet him and he was bounding after her like a big kid. They just don't stop do they.

I really do love the breed and hate seeing so many dogs being given up on (all breeds).

Hope you don't think I was being cheeky asking the question and thanks for replying.
