A vet recommended this food to us and gave me a couple of samples to try. He says he has his dogs on this (not boxers) and I was looking for some input. I ordered a 20 lb bag to try. My girl has no digestive disorders that I'm aware of (cast iron stomach), but I do want to feed her a good food. In the instruction sheet he gave me it said to help with the transition to this food to feed with slightly cooked veggies. Just curious if anyone was familiar with this food and what opinions anyone has.

Yay! Sounds like you've got a good vet :) Most of them recommend nasty things like Science Diet and Iams.
Flint River Ranch is a good food. It is on the Whole Dog Journal's list of quality food too (if you wanted 'independant' affirmation of it's quality). I haven't fed it personally though, so can't really advise on the veggies and switching. Veggies are good for her though, and will help with the weight issue, so I wouldn't be at all concerned about feeding them.

Unfortunately this food didn't seem to agree w/ my 6 month old girl.
It gave her wicked bad gas in the beginning, and she has consistently had loose stools, sometimes bloody...the spoonful of pumpkin has helped, though I think I'm going to switch her to Chicken Soup or Wellness, I'm thinking maybe she has a food allergy.
Anyways, it sounds like a good choice, I hope it works for you!!!!

FRR is a fantastic food....great ingredients...just a little pricy. It cost us around $50 dollars for a 40 pound bag. Sasha's eye stains completely dissappeared...we switched from FRR to Chicken Soup...also great food and very affordable!

You might want to try Natures Variety Max seems to enjoy it and it is pretty decently priced about 31 dollars for a 30 lb bag. If you get the venison about 40. They also have beef and lamb and chicken, along with freeze dried and raw. Their dog kibble is called prairie. Good luck.
