anyone ever going camping with there boxers?

I started off camping in a tent with a Dalmatian and a Cocker Spaniel. Never had problems with nails on the bottom of the tent. It was just hard to go anywhere away from the camping area because you never know if they'll make an escape or not. As you know in Texas, the big thing to watch for are ticks and mosquitos. Rusty has lived the high life since we got him. I got a travel trailer a couple of years ago so he doesn't know what it means to "rough it". He's been to the beach and Dinosaur Valley State Park. It's up by Glen Rose. If you haven't been there it's a nice park. You have to make reservations way in advance though. It has a lot of great hiking trails and a river that the dogs can play in. You just can't let them off leash. Good luck and I hope y'all have a great time.

Camping is great! I have never tented it with our dogs, but we camp regularly with them in our travel trailer. The corkscrew tethers are an excellent idea and work great. If you can, it is a good idea to take a crate and some extra mosquito net. If the bugs are really bad, your pups can still be outside but not bothered by pesky insects. Don't forget bug spray for the pups too. I use the kids towlettes and so far, the dogs don't lick it off. I also always pack along some benadryl just in case they get into something they shouldn't. We pack special treats for the dogs so they don't get sick eating too many marshmallows etc. and I usually take my own water for the dogs. Make sure you have an extra fanny pack just for the dogs when hiking. They get very thirsty too! Sometimes stream water or campground water can give them upset tummies. One last thing, watch out for skunks and porcupines, especially at night! These little critters can end your pleasant camping trip faster than you can say peew or ouch! Have fun!

We took Dillon to Mammoth with us last year in September. It was really fun.
We did have a couple bears in our camp at night and one even broke into our bear box and ate our Oreos, but he was fine other than a little frightened.

is this in California? i just saw the pictures in your gallery and it is beautiful over there. Pretty scary though being that there are bears around. idon't know what zeus would do should he ever have that chance to see a bear.

We just returned 2 days ago from a week long camping trip. Between us and our best freinds we had 4 boxers and a min pin (who thinks he is a boxer) We camped at Short Mountain Cove here in Oklahoma. The dogs had a blast. We are leaving Thusday to go to Applegate Cove for 2 weeks. We started camping with the dogs about 3 yrs. ago when we just had Max (RIP). We stayed in a tent. We now have converted a 16 ft stock trailor (never had stock in it) into a camp trailor. It has air cond.refridg. stove the works.

My husband and I just bought a trailer and plan on taking Rocky camping with us sometime soon. We want to make sure that we've got everything under control ourselves first. But I am looking forward to when we do actually take him with us.

The best part about taking you boxer camping is that it wears them out! My Laila slept hard every night, and most of the day when we got home. We were camped next to 7 horses though, and after they left she decided their poop was acceptable food....yuck.

I've always wanted to go to Yosemite National park, maybe Robby will consider it within the next year or so after i show him the webcams. Thanx!!!
