Loved our Springer

We had a Springer several years ago. She was liver and white, about 45-50 pounds, and had to be groomed because whe didn't shed. Daquiri was wonderful, but a handful as a puppy. She would run away (go exploring) in a heartbeat, but loved everyone and everything. She loved the water, would chase after sticks in the river until you were too tired to throw them anymore, then she would just jump in and "pretend" she was retrieving sticks, and adored riding in the boat. She got along great w/ our cats and even w/ a stray dog we took in. Hated it when we had to put her down, but there is a point where the quality of life thing can't be denied any more.

Boxer Buddy
My last dog (before Qunicy) was a Springer female. I had her for 11 years. I believe that Springers come in two types: calm and crazy. The crazy version are high energy and need lots of work, but can be great dogs. Molly was extremely calm, she loved to be outside and be with people. She loved to go for car rides and even would ride in the tractor with me on the farm. She mothered every baby animal born on the place. She would let kittens climb all over her and she would even lick them. One thing she struggled with most of her life was ear infections. With their longer, hairier ears it is a bad problem. If you take them in the water make sure you dry their ears and even use a drying solution (made of alcohol). I never trained Molly to hunt but she would point every now and again. She was a great cattle dog, she puts those cows in their place. Most Springers are pleasers and training is relatively easy. Molly was my constant companion growing up and it tore us both apart when I went to college. Needless to say, Quincy had some big shoes to fill and he's doing a great job.
