I was wondering how those of you with 3 boxers like it? I have 2 right now and there is one at the local shelter that needs a home. His name is Pip and is a boxer/pitbull mix. He looks totally like a boxer, I don't really see the pit in him, but the shelter people say that he has characteristics of a pitbull, I don't know which ones. Anyway, I wanted to know how the other dogs reacted? I know that when I got my second one the first one was VERY mad at me. I don't want Oscar (the first one) to be more mad or offended.

Thanks!

I use to have 3 boxer's 2 female and 1 male. when my girls reached adult they started to fight and every fight got worse till it was finally to the death. I found out that females tend to be more aggressive with each other even though they were brought up together. so please do research to make sure it is a good fit. maybe you could bring your dog's to meet the other dog and see what happens. I will stick with the 2 I have now and won't tempt fate again.

Of Course!! I would never bring in another dog if they didn't get along and of course I would have them meet first.

We have 2 boxers and I am definately planning on getting another. My reason may be strange, but we had 2 and my eldest passed away. Eli, who has never spent life without a companion, was distraught and did not understand what was going on. I never want my babies to be alone if and when something happens to one of them.
I have a male and a female and think I will stay away from adding a female to the family. I will learn from Trish's experience which saddened me so.

ok you don't need to scream at me.
I am just telling you what happened to me.

I wasn't screaming, I meant to say of course I would do the research. I wouldn't bring in a dog that didn't get along with the two I already have, they are my priority. sorry it came off that way. What I want to know is how did the one you had first react to the 3rd one coming into the family?

mattie was the oldest and she welcomed both gracie and samson in the house. as I have said gracie and mattie were both pups and grew up together. since mattie was around 8 months and gracie was 12 weeks. as for samson when he came not to long ago on jan this year. mattie and gracie had already started to fight but it was a little here and a little there. but both of them showered samson with love they never fought over him. I never knew that this out come would have happened to me. when it finally got worse( which really was overnight) I was trying to get a behaviorist in. but it was to late.

it's unfortunate that happened to you. I'm sorry. I have heard that females tend to get a little more aggressive with each other.

Three for me

O.K. this is my thought and opinion on 3 boxers. I have Max and Abby who will be 4yrs. Memorial day and Xavier who is just 6 mo. old. Everyone gets along super 99.9% of the time, there have been 1 or 2 occassions when the older 2 have snapped at the baby,no fights just putting him in his place, he is non stop either harrassing Max or Abby and if they get worn out then he`s off to find the cats !!! Now as for myself I love my boxers and I wouldn`t change a thing. However,Quite honestly for me personally 3 is my limit, because of the amount af attention each one deserves I do feel (and Max makes sure of it) that I sometimes short change them on their one on one time. Maybe I overanalize this but with those looks they give you how can you not ? I think that sometimes Max is a little jealous of his baby brother because before Xavier came along Max and I went thru a very long trying ordeal to save his life, thru which we were inseperatable, now this newcomer is requiring some of His moms attention.
Now I know, I really need help,after reading this I`m sure I overanalize.grin2icon
