Mason's Moms

Boxer Pal
Looking for help on what seems to be a reflux problem with my boy. Mason is 1 1/2 year old unvaccinated male. He currently eats the Wellness Super 5 Mix supplemented with digestive enzymes, whole body, dermal and immune support powders as well. About a montha go we started giving him charcoal bisquits throughtout the day and before bedtime. It worked for a while but is now starting to become a problem for him again.
You can physically hear the reflux happen in his body, then he begins to lick and swallow like he is trying to clear his mouth. The vet said he should grow out of it, but one year later it is only worse.
Anyone with similar problems or a fix I haven't tried?

Thanks!

We are feeding our boxer Lucy the exact same food and Lucy has reflux too! It's like she barfs in her mouth (ewww). She's always had a very sensitive stomach so for a while we fed her Medi-Cal Gastro formula, but that's almost $100 a bag. This Wellness 5 food seems much better anyway as far as ingredients and supplements.

If you find a solution, post it. I'd like to hear, too! I thought it was because Lucy eats really fast and hardly chews her food.

I'd love to hear a solution too. Rylee is currently on Nutro and she "verps" a lot with an occassional accident.

We had to switch Lucy off Nutro, which is where she started, because she constantly had reflux, threw up, and had diarrhea. So we fed her Medi-Cal (gastro formula) (vet sells it), and that cleared her right up. But it was $90 a bag!! So now we're feeding her Wellness Super 5 made by Mother Hubbard. Her stools are normal and she doesn't barf unless she eats something she finds in the backyard or whatever, but yeah, still reflux. I think it might be because she doesn't really chew it; she inhales it!

Mason's Mom, what if you eliminated one by one the other supplements to see if they are contributing? Or I wonder if he might be allergic to an ingredient in the food. I'm surprised the digestives aren't working, but maybe he needs hydrochloric acid in them or something or just a different blend of enzymes. I take digestives myself and have had to experiment. Some are not right for you and can cause problems. One kind I tried gave me terrible stomach aches, for instance. He maybe having trouble with the protein, in which case find digestives for that, or that include enzymes to break down veggies, fruits, and proteins, all of which are in the Wellness Super 5. Lucy has problems with veggies; she doesn't digest them well if we give her little raw pieces and sometimes will actually refuse veggies, which is unusual because she begs like nobody's business.

Anyway, I'm just guessing, but maybe soemthing of this is helpful! Rylee Dog, I'd try gradually switching off Nutro to something with better ingredients or a gastro formula. Just get a small bag of natural food to start and see if Rylee does any better.

Owen gets, what the vet thinks, is occasional episodes of reflux. When it happens I give him a 10mg Pepcid AC tablet and it seems to help.
And maybe try a different food.
