I am at my wits end, I have Ray dripping urine all over the place. He had cancer a few years ago, it was to do with his prostate and he has been neutered. He did start leaking a little after that but it wasn't really bad. We have recently had to put him onto heart meds, he has been on that for about 2 months now. Of late he seems to be leaking non stop and I have drip drip marks all over my carpets.

I don't know if its the heart meds or what that might be making it worse lately. The vet has told me he does not have your typical incontenance, the cancer that he had did mess with his urinery system a bit. He doesn't have UTI.

Anyway, I have tried the parsley, I have tried meds the vet suggested and also most recently homeopathic drops called Eco Bladder, but nothing helps.

Anyone have any other suggestions ? I am getting ready to strap a diaper to his wiggle butt :eek:

Well, I guess if it's a heart med, it may be a duretic? If so, that would be causing the problems.

I cant really help with how to control it, but covering him to stop leakage everywhere may very well be the only answer.

My only other suggestion is changing vets...but if you are comfortable with this vet it really couldn't hurt to get another opinion..

Thanks Laura, I am really happy with my vet, he is absolutely passionate about what he does, he regularly lectures and acts as advisory for other vets etc. I actually found him while getting a second opinion when Ray got cancer and have been with him ever since. My previous vet thought Ray had a skin allergy when he started losing hair. My new vet couldn't believe that it wasn't diagnosed as cancer immediately. When we walked in with Ray he told us what symptoms Ray was having without even getting him up on the table or us saying a word.

I think it is probably the heart meds as Jodie said. My vet did recommend the homeopathic meds as well and he said that there weren't many things around to help with this kind of problem in males. I was just hoping someone might have had a similar experience and had an odd solution to the problem or a clever idea of how to keep him from dripping everywhere.

You could possibly try the diapers they use for females in heat! It may help with the dripping until you get it figured out! Sending healing vibes and hugs to you!

Thanks again, yes I think I see myself landing up doing that unfortunately. I just had my carpets cleaned today and am really tired of washing bedding every few days. The good thing is that he isn't allowed on the furniture and loves to sleep on his bed, so the bad spot is always his bed and blanket.

What am I going to do with this boy ?!! (Long Sorry)

On Sunday morning from early Ray was throwing up and he was definately not interested in his food. About mid morning he seemed to have stopped throwing up, so I gave him a little bit of rice which stayed down, then that evening I gave him rice and chicken, he seemed much better and tucked in. I thought I would see how he was on Monday morning and then if necessary take him to the vet. He seemed fine and hadn't thrown up since the day before, so I left it.

Then I arrived home yesterday from work to find Ray feeling very sorry for himself, he didn't even get up to greet me which is a first. I put my stuff down and looked at him, he had followed me limping badly, so off to the vet I went anyway. (I really seem to be making it a weekly visit between Sugar and Ray the last few weeks). The vet gave him some pain killers and anit-vomit pills and we will see how he is over the next few days and if he is not good they have to xray him, which they are hesitant to do (he was hardly limping this morning - so yeay so far).

Anyway, back to the point (sorry had to vent a little), while I was there I asked about the heart meds and his leaking (his new name is now "leaky leaky"). I was told yup, thats the problem and nope, there are no other options to stop the leaking other than what I have tried.

Now I am going to HAVE to find some kind of diaper, or try and make something for him??? I have never seen doggy diapers sold in this country at all, not for females on heat let alone anything else. I will have to ask some of the rescue organisations or bigger animal clinics maybe they will know where to find them.

Otherwise I am still open to any ingenious ideas you lovely boxerworld folk might have please :( ???!!!

Aww poor Ray, and poor you!!

Some people dont bother with the doggy diapers (too expensive and dont work) so they buy boys undies from a store and put a sanitary pad in them ;) You will have to cut a nubby hole tho. Seems to work better.

Have you tried cranberry juice too?

Wow a cancer survivor. Even tho is is messy, I WISH I had your problems. We lost Cassius to cancer last Dec. I would try the diaper route if nothing else works. I think they make ones specially designed for males. Have you consulted a different vet or done research on the internet for alternative treatments??? Ten different vets might have 10 different approaches. Also look up the heart meddication on the internet and ee if that is a side effect. Did the dripping get worse or start when you started the heart med.

I used to have KOKO sleep on these for easy clean up maybe you can find something like this. The human ones are cheaper than the pet type.
