Any saltwater reef aquarists??

Well I am officially setting up my first salt water reef aquarium. It is a 55 gallon tank and I have bought a coralife light and am starting to build the sump system. I took the tank to be drilled for the sump a couple of days ago and my boyfrind will be building the rest of the sump system at home. I am very excited about this project as I think salt water reef tanks are just beautiful!! We hope to have the tank cycling by the end of the week with just live rocks and coral sand/substrate. My bf and I are both extreme beginners so if any enthusiasts out there have helpful tips for a beginner they would be much appreciated. Share your experiences with me!! What works?? What doesnt?? This is a big (quite expensive) undertaking and I dont want to screw it up

Good luck to you!! I have no advise to give because I have never been brave enough to try it as it is ALOT of work and ALOT of money...but I would love to have one!!

I'll be starting one as soon as we move in a few months.

I've already drilled holes in a 10gal to use as a sump, but am a little leering about drilling into the 40 gallon I purchased... Oh well, I'll probably do it because people charge so much money to do it!

I'm planning on keeping an octopus, yay!
