Any Rottweiler Owners?

I've had Rotts in my house for 15 years. I'm living with two Rotts now. Both of mine are female and rescues. But I'm going to meet a 3 month old male puppy this weekend and if my girls like him I'll have a baby boy.
Rotts are great dogs. They are stubborn and smart. I haven't had a Boxer but with Rotts sometimes you don't think they are as smart as they are, because they think before they do something. I've found with mine they are slow maturing and can be destructive, but by reading these forums I get the idea that Boxer pups are too. :D
I raised my first two Rotts from pups so I have been through the puppy uglies. I've had one girl that was real calm and almost as perfect as a pup could be. So when she was 4-5 I got another pup, and that pup was the terror from h*&^^. :rolleyes: It took Katie till she was almost 3 years old to calm down but then she was the best dog I've ever had.
If you have any specific questions I'll be happy to answer them. I can only give you my experiences from living with my dogs though.

Completely Boxer Crazy
My boyfriend's family has rotts and I find them to be wonderful companions. They are very loyal and protective. Moose and Callie will not let anyone on the porch when no one is home. Even people they both know. If I didn't have a boxer, I would definetely have a rottie.

I have a rottie, he is five years old, he gets along with Ozzy so well, asctually keeps him sane! He was very easy to train and a wonderful dog, very protective,never have to lock my doors! They need exercise like all dogs do, we walk every night for sure and morning when we can. Pictures of him and ozzy in my gallery. Beautiful dogs, like boxers you have to be responsible for them, they are big and people are scared of them.

I don't have a Rott but am Auntie to one sweet girl named Lady. Lady has known both my children since birth and she adores them. Never seen a gentler dog around children. They pulled themselves up on her when learning to walk. The one and only time Lady got scary was when some idiot friend who didn't know her started rough housing in the yard with the kids and he ignored Lady's warning growls. After telling him politely several times to either introduce himself to her or get away from her kids - she nipped him in the back of the leg. He is still angry to this day! Fool doesnt understand how nice she was..........he could have been hobbling away on a stump. Needless to say we took her side totally. I could say more but Jagger just farted beside me and I think I am going to go die now.

Our good friend has a 2 year old Rottweiler named Koda. She is absolutly the funnies dog in the world! She loves to play fetch so ANY OBJECT will do including buttons!!! She puts it in her mouth and comes over to your lap and spits it out! Then she looks at you and the button like..."HELLO? Go ahead and throw it!!"
She is the most lovable dog! LOVES to sit in your lap and cuddle if she is not playing fetch. Great dogs!! She is also great friends with Dasia and Bianca our two Brats..i mean boxers.

I am the proud owner of a rottie and two boxers. Corona (our rotti) is the most gentle and loving dog one could own. She is very loyal and was A HECK OF ALOT EASIER TO TRAIN than a boxer. They respond well to positive reinforcement and will do anything to get their back or bellies scratched. I watched her try to take a french fry from a 4 yr old boy (who was trying to feed her) without using her teeth (which was hilarious considering rotties have almost no lips.) They are great companions for boxers and kids!

Kris, I have to second that, a rottie is sooo much easier to train than a boxer!!! I never had a problem with my rottie, never even chewed anything as a puppy! but Ozzy, within the last week, a bag of shelled peanuts, 10lbs of potatoes, empty pop cans!!one roll of fax paper, my door stops, one vhs casette, one cushion! whats wrong with his toys??? gotta love em anyways!
