Bentley Boo

Boxer Pal
Was just sitting here on the couch petting Bentley Boo (15 week old white boxer) and noticed he has red spots all around his crotch area and one spot on his anus, looks like blood, I tried to wipe it off and it won't wipe off so it's the skin. Looks like some sort of rash. This came on sometime today as it was not there last night. He was outside for a good part of the day today but was supervised and not running around in the weeds or anything. We're really worried and will be calling the vet tomorrow but wondered if anyone had any ideas on what this could be? I have taken a picture and can email it if requested.

Thanks.

They are probably just some sort of bites or a reaction to something outside. It sounds like he may have sat on something. (My dogs have been notorious for finding ant beds) I would give it a day or two before calling the vet, unless of course it worsens. A cool damp cloth might help relieve any itching he may have.

I am glad that Bentley's spots are looking better. I have no idea what bit Moto, but it has never happened again. :)

Gnat bites. :) The weather here has warmed up and this week at the vet clinic, we have gotten dozens of calls with people thinking their dog has Lyme disease or ringworm or something because of these spots! They do look awful though, don't they! The dogs don't seem bothered by them and they usually fade pretty quickly. I noticed them on Juno a couple days ago, but they're gone now.

These were Juno's spots from last summer, when I didn't know what they were:

Wow, Lady had spots almost identical to this last summer! I was about to rush her to the emergency vet, because of course this happened on a Sunday, but we decided to try a bath & Benadryl first, because her breathing was fine. After a bath & pill, she was ok, and the hives/spots went away. Very scary though. We still don't know what happened: heat, bee, gnats, whatever it was. I'm SOOOO happy I have found this site for some piece of mind!!!
