Boxer Insane
I'm working in a nursing home this summer and staff/visitors are allowed to bring in their (well behaved) dogs to visit. I haven't brought one of my own dogs with me yet (I might bring Happy with me some day) but I have observed other people bringing in their dogs and I can honestly say getting a visit from a dog is a really big highlight for the residents (of course, not everyone likes dogs but most do). Many of the residents had pets before they had to move to the nursing home and they still miss them (I can't imagine what it must be like, having to leave your pet behind!!!). The every day life in a nursing home is very monotonous and some of the folks live their for years and years, so small things like a visit with a dog make a huge difference for them.
Lots of people enjoy visiting children with their dogs, if you go ahead with the therapy dog work please consider visiting a nursing home
I promise you it will be very rewarding.
