I'm picking up Zeena tomorrow and I'm so excited. I'm worried about her leaving her family. You see, the breeder owns her mother, her father, her grandmother and two other adult boxers plus all of her littermates are still there with her. She's going to be the first one to go tomorrow. Any advise on making the transition easier for her? I don't want her to be too upset! Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

If possible, have the breeder put something in with the mother than you can take home with you that will have the mother's scent on it. That way, the new puppy will have the familiar scent with her when you bring it home.

Yep - a toy that they have all been playing with is a good one. Our breeder sent one of their toys with us. It helped Sam in his crate.

as the 2 previoues posters said get something that has a familiar scent, when we brought Athena home the breeder gave us 2 stuffed animals and a small blanket, and yes they smelled like puppies. Keep the toys close so she can go to them for comfort, we kept the toys around until she tore them up. Crating them the for us was very hard and we couldn't do it, now.... they both sleep with us. if you do do this, keep in mind it's cute at first but they grow fast and they are bed hogs.

That first night, she slept with something that her parents had played with, but we also put the shirt I had worn that day in her crate with her that night. I think she liked it, as she slept through the night that first night. :)
