I'm at my wits end. For two nights in a row this week, she has been peeing in her crate at night. She hasn't tried waking us up to let her out - she is just peeing in there and laying in it. So, last night I thought about what was going on and decided I would take her out every 2 hours.

The first thing I did differently was let her sleep in my bed until 3am. I figured that with her in bed with me, I would feel her moving around and getting antsy. It was working well. I took her out at 1 and then at 3 she start getting restless again. I took her to the door, but before I could open it, she had peed on the carpet. I put her outside while I cleaned it up and then brought her back in. This time I decided that her sleeping in my bed wasn't working. I wasn't sleeping soundly because I was worried she would get up and just pee anywhere in our room.

At 5, she started whining so I got up to take her out again. This time she was completely soaked in her own pee. I couldn't believe it. At this point, I hadn't slept at all so I just put her out and tried to go back to sleep. (Of course, then she started howling so I put my German Shepherd out there with her to keep her company.)

Okay, so this is our set up. The crate is the perfect size. She has just enough room to lay down, move around and have a bowl and a couple of toys with her. There is no room for her to pee in one corner and sleep in the other.

I don't know what to do. I only got about 2 hours of sleep last night and now I have to get on the road and begin my hour-long commute into LA. I have to fix this or one of these days I'm going to fall asleep at the wheel.

HELP!!

how old is she? i would go back to every half hour or hour. you want to catch it before she needs to go. gradually you work your way up. it sucks at first, but it's the best way.

How old is this puppy, and how long have you had her? What have her sleeping habits been like up until this point?

my 6mo old pup is doing the same thing latley. She has been doing well with potty training until the last month or so I thought she was trained but now she has these accidents at night. She used to wake us up to take her out and sometimes she still does but sometimes she wakes up wet lying in her urine and then she tries to clean herself up. It's like she's dreaming and just lets it go, most nights she's good but every once in a while she has these accidents. I don't know what to do either.

She is 14 weeks old. We have had her for 2 weeks exactly.

She has been sleeping in her crate at night since we got her. She gets to lounge on our bed until we go to sleep. At that point we take her out to go potty and then she sleeps in her crate.

There was no problem until Tuesday night.

My Gracie does the same thing except she does both in her cage. She pees and poos. I can take her out and put her in her cage and she will squat in front of me and go pee, 10 minutes after she just went out. Gracie is now 7 months old and she has been going in her cage since I got her, at 8 weeks. I have tried waking up in the middle of the night and taking her out. Trying different size crates. Nothing seems to work. What is bad about Gracie is that she will go poo and then step all in it and lay in it too. It is my daily routine to clean and disinfect her crate 2 times a day. I don't know what else to do with her. I think she thinks she is doing the right thing because she really doesn't have any accidents in our home. Only in her crate.

I know what you're going through! Our Lucy, 13 weeks now, was going pee & poop in her crate daily, yet never while lose in the house. I was so tired of cleaning up the messes and tired of worrying if my girl would get it. We knew it wasn't a natural dog instinct too. I made some changes, at a trainers suggestion, and we have been 4 days in a row without any accidents, which gives me so much hope.

Try something new with her for a few days. I didn't realize that giving Lucy a warm bath after an accident and cuddling with her til she was dry was counterproductive. We changed what we did -- we would give her a cool bath, 30 second towel dry, and back in crate without hugs and kisses.

Punktress - Our Rosey is 14 weeks old and I cut her water off at 7pm. I normally feed her then and she takes a good drink and then no more until morning. She makes it thru the night without peeing.

I feel for you. Our Maisie peed once in her bed and I just hoped and prayed it would not happen again. Someone once told me that stopping all fluids and liquids after 9pm would help. Maisie's cut off time was 8pm and we made sure that we knew when her last bowl movement was so that we could try and encourage her to have one before bedtime. Maisie has been doing good through the night now. I used to set my alarm to get up early for her so I could take her out to go potty. I have been able to gradually extend the time. I can't wait until I can sleep in on weekends! Maybe you should take the bowl out from her crate at bedtime and have a cutoff time for liquids and food. I wouldn't give her a lot of attention when you find her and her bed wet. I'd just clean her up and the bed and put her back down to sleep. You want her to know that bedtime is a time for sleeping and not playing. When you take her out to do her thing bring a small treat along to give her when she is done. Lots of Luck! Hang in there, those little bladders may need just one more day to mature and tomorrow may be the day.
