Hello all,

My name is Debra and I just acquired a beautiful, flashy fawn 2 yr. old female. Her name is Mika (meeka). I've only had her since Tuesday and she is absolutely wonderful. I'm certainly not new to dogs but am new to this breed. I am thinking of possibly doing obedience with her and may even compete with her because she seems to be exremely intelligent and willing to please. At any rate, I like this site and look forward to learning more about this wonderful breed. Mika is not the only furball, though....I have several Maltese and everyone gets along famously.

Thanks for listening....

Hi Debra!

Welcome to Boxer World! We are relatively new too and find that everyone is very nice and full of good suggestions. Let me know how it goes with a Boxer and a little dog (maltese is small, right?) I am trying to convince my husband that we need a Pekingese and he says it won't work with Beau. What part of Ohio are you from?

Welcome again!
Angela

Welcome to Boxerworld! Samson was our first boxer and we are so happy we decided on this breed. They are so loving and very funny!
I can't wait to hear more about your dogs.

Hi Angela,

Thank you....I'm in northwest/central Ohio....about an hour northwest of Columbus.

Yes, Malts are small..mine range from 4 to 8 lbs. and they were the ones who had to get used to Mika....Mika was fine with them. She also plays and gets along with my son's two Shelties, two cats, as well as my daughter's Pom.

She has totally amazed me. She gives me hugs...she heels while walking and doesn't even know the command :) rides in the suv like a lady, never begs for food nor is she food aggressive around the Malts...can't say that about some of my Malts, though *LOL*

Seriously, I took a couple of my Malts with me to meet Mika to see how she would react before making the final decision to get her. She has thoroughly impressed me with her wonderful temperament. She even likes to oversee as I care for the puppies and likes to kiss them.

If she's typical for the breed, I am in love :)

She sounds wonderful! Maybe I will try a Pekingese with our handsome Beau. He absolutely loves other dogs, he's just a little, well, exuberant about it and it puts other dogs off a bit.

Again, welcome!

Thank you all for the very warm welcome!!! This appears to be the ultimate site for Boxers. Very impressive...and after reading thru some of the forums, everyone seem to be so nice :)

Mika says *hi* to all the fellow Boxers. Btw, she is docked and floppy. I love her velvety ears and her face is so expressive.

She certainly does have lots of *family* to keep her entertained. She loves our evening walks together. My friends and family are probably tired of hearing me talk about her but I find her to be so amazing. Anything that's new to her and she is clearly unsure about.....all I have to do is encourage her and she'll do it. She has totally put her trust in me already. I certainly thought the transition to me and my home would take longer.

She has tried to pull the wool over my eyes, though.....when I leave the room, she'll get up in my recliner and get down before I re-enter the room...but I *caught* her today, twice...so cute. I think she figures if the little ones can get on the furniture, so can she :)
