Boxer Booster
Okay, so my vet & I both researched a lot of Barf on the net, he has been fantastic in helping me with this.... & we have worked out a basic barf diet that consists of the following ingredients (i wont put in the measurements)

Ox Tail,
Ox tongue,
Ox heart,kidneys, liver
Chuck steak/mince
Ox Brisket bones
Chicken carcass
chicken necks & wings
Lamb brisket
Eggs
Salmon/tuna
yoghurt/cottage cheese
pigs feet (one a mth due to fat contents)
Vegemite
Brocolli
Cabbages
Carrots
Turnips
Apples
Bananas
Flax seed oil
Lamb shanks (2/week) or 1 beef shank/week
So far our dogs have been doing really well on it, (Major has a 21% weight increase in 10 days) we vary the ingredients each day between the list only giving offal or vegies twice a week as a maximum, we are at the moment using a total factor plus capsule a day for major to help boost his thymus & create more T cells.

But my question is that in some of the forums here I have been reading terms like "home cooked" or using other forms to boost the diets as well ie Satin Balls etc.... have we missed something & should I be adding other supplements to their diet as well?
I feed RAW i dont cook anything as that is what we interpreted BARF to be...are we missing something or does home cooked mean home prepared?

Thanks

Home cooking is just another dietary choice some people make for their dogs. Typically (but not exclusively) homecooking is the choice of people who want something better than kibble for their dogs, but aren't comfortable with feeding raw.

Satin balls aren't a diet supplement exactly. They are a very high calorie mix of raw minced meat and various other things (you could do a search for the recipe - I can't remember it) that is intended for very short term use to put weight on a dog quickly.

Based on the diet ingredients you've described, I don't think you've got any dietary shortcomings that need correcting by either satin balls or homecooking ;)
