When I was researching dogs the term "hearing guard dog" probably is what got me into researching the boxer breed more thoughrally. The fact that Cassius is a "hearing gaurd dog" all the damage he could do can be done from his crate. That being said if I am home and an intruder decides to come into my house, Cash will not be the one who he should fear, it will be my 9mm. And before this thread goes somewhere else, I am trained and certified, and know the risks of keeping firearms in my house.
I don't think these beasts broke into this couples home. It seems as though it was just an act of cruelty, however, theft may have been a motive, and they were scarred away, but that is just speculation!!

Thanks so much for writing. When this story came into our newsroom I jumped on it because I am a TOTAL animal lover. I used to volunteer at the animal shelter in New Mexico.
I have been in contact with the dogs' owner on a daily basis. His name is Gino Archuleta. It's very hard, but he's starting to get over the initial shock. He is a very sweet man.
The community has been so great... offering to give him Boxer puppies. I even had a call from the pet cemetery which has offered to bury the dogs at no charge. They're even offering to provide a grave marker.
North Las Vegas Police are taking this very seriously...even sent out the C.S.I. team (crime scene investigators) to gather evidence at the home. This is a huge deal because they mostly investigate human homicides.
Anyway, they are trying to lift fingerprints off of the duct tape and interview neighbors. Gino says as soon as there is something to report he will contact me right away and WE WILL get it on the air.

no progress
There are no new developments that I have heard of, there is a growing reward to catch the killer(s). I believe we are up to about $10,000 The boxers names were Pharoh, and Tanguery. They were beautiful boxers. I fear they may never catch the monsters who did this. Some people make me so sick. And what makes me even sicker is that I fear they are going to get away with this, they obviously have no concience, so I hope there is a higher power they have to answer to someday. If there is any news of any kind, I will certainly keep this up to date.

I am a firm believer that there IS a special Hell for these awful excuse for human beings!! The horrible death that these dogs suffered should be paid for by the perpetrators for eternity in a most unspeakable manner!! I am sort of a ghoul, so I can think of plenty if Lucifer needs suggestions.
We own black cats, and every year at this time we hear of all the awful things being done just because of the color of their fur! Every October the paranoia around our house doubles, there are notes on the doors to insure that we see both cats before we leave so we KNOW that one didn't sneak out the door on accident! They never have yet, but we feel better knowing they are safe and out of reach (for the most part) of people like these.

Can't say anything that hasn't already been said. Just like others here, I thought about them being lured in by a fake-sweet-talking person just to be bound and tossed in the water.
What really struck close to home is that one of the Boxers names was Pharaoh. Same as mine.
