Anestesia for nueter?

Hi I am having my little Emmitt neutered tommorrow morning and I remember readign on Boxer world about an anestesia that I should not allow the vet to use can you remind me of it's name and why? Thanks!

I think you mean Acepromazine (ACE). It's not technically an anasthetic, but a pre-anasthetic sedative. It shouldn't be used on boxers because it is known to dramatically lower their blood pressure, sometimes leading to heart failure. If your vet is intent of using a sedative ahead of anasthetic, then valium will do the job just as well, without the same risk of death.

it's name is ACEPROMAZINE but usually called ACE...

here is a link in case you want to know why it is bad for your boxer. when i took asia to be spaid i printed this out and asked the nurses to put this in asia's file for future references regarding asia and other boxers as well. i also asked them to write 'NO ACE' across her folder after reading this page...
