Anal glands??

If anyone has anything else to add to the process, who has first hand experience no pun intended... Oh and don't forget the gloves!

DM - I DO have first hand experience. When I was in highschool, I worked for a groomer/boarder. I washed all of the incoming dogs in my shift (all had anal expression unless specifically requested NOT TO from their parents/owners).

ummm...I would advise against the grinning--keep your mouth/lips closed tightly! Have fun! (Really, its not so bad most times.....)

Hey everyone, what happens if the you havent been able to tell if the glands need to be expressed? Can they get really sick? I havent noticed Brandi doing any scooting. She licks sometimes, but no scooting. I've had her now for 8 weeks. How often does it have to be done?

My Min Poodle went to the vet today and they squeezed them But only could get one but the other one was too thick. They said I would have to do it!!! EWWWW I dont want to!!! You all that have done this before. And Umm pointers?

I just ate too Its making my stomach hurt thinking of it. ha

. Beau has a firm tail-down policy when anyone comes near his hiney so I can't imagine that I'd be able to do it on my own.

That is so funny!! Muggsy has the same policy. We wondered if he was tramatized as a baby because if you even look at his hiney that tail clamps down.
